A Speedster on a Hemmings cover in 1966 got me interested in building one. I wanted a Mercer but realized they were out of my league. Over the Winter I put one together and had a lot of fun with it. It wasn't very well finished so I tore it down and spent 8 years off and on building it as it appears here. I added rear seats in 1983 as it was our only tour car for our family of 4. As we built other cars I put it back as a two seater. We have toured 20,000 miles in it, climbed Pike's Peak and broken a crankshaft. We also drove it in the Winter until I could build some closed Ts.

Thanks John. As a lad I hoped to own a Mercer Raceabout. Reality set in when I saw they could cost as much as $30,000. (1966) The color combination was totally inspired by those Mercers. I did get a ride in one but it was Green.
