Re: Getting Rattles Back On The Road

This time I was adjusting the Carburetor Rod. I got it close but I'm a bit concerned that the throttle isn't closing all the way. IS it good enough to get the car started? You can see that in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBt4B8-a9g0 IMG_4590.jpeg I also was able to get the fuse on the...

Today I was able to get out and fix the universal joint on the carb. I used a large punch and bent the ears around it to create some more space. Problem solved.

I agree Steve. There have been so many times that I have had to sand, machine, bend, etc. for a part to fit. I'm not just talking about fitting a new part to a 95+ year old part. Even the new to new parts. I am glad that you can get most things for the T.

I have a set of the tools to bend them colored Red Green and Blue. I'm thinking that they are used by wedging the rod in-between the tool. What I don't know is are they used for different kind of bends? If so how?

Well it always seem like when I tighten a castle nut the hole in the bolt never lines up so I have to back the nut off a bit to get the cotter-pin in. Now I know that the pin would have to fall out for the nut to come loose but I still feel like it's not tight enough. Am I being over cautious?

Re: Getting Rattles Back On The Road

So tonight I just did a few things. First I installed the Transmission screen as well as sandblasted the transmission inspection door repainting it on the correct side. Ha! Thanks for the correction. IMG_4365.jpeg I used sealant between the gasket and hog's head. Then a bit of grease then the oil sc...

Re: Getting Rattles Back On The Road

Thanks I will make the changes. I knew about the cover. I'm going to flip it. I have a transmission screen as well. Is the starter band just because that's where it was placed on the assembly line? Should the generator band go in the up position in line with the cutout? Oh and the ball is round. It ...

Re: Getting Rattles Back On The Road

Then we put the throttle and timer levers on with the pins. This was a pain using new pins, new levers, and old rods. Took a while to get the holes to line up.

Next we will try the intake and exhaust manifolds.

Re: Getting Rattles Back On The Road

So then it was on to bigger things and we decided to put the starter in while the steering column was out of the car. The first part was fitting the bendex and attaching the spring. This should be the proper way for the TAB on the washer to go. IMG_4350.jpeg Then Angie and I put the starter in with ...

Re: Getting Rattles Back On The Road

Had a great day messing around with cars. First My daughter drove for the first time on a major road to go get lunch. We came home and started in on Rattles. First Angie applied some sealant to the water outlet or inlet I always forget. IMG_4347.jpeg Then she bolted it on. IMG_4359.jpeg The car had ...

Re: Radius rod, Wishbone, that thing with the ball

Well After work I went to try some of your ideas. I took the car off the front roller skates and wouldn't you know it the ball lined up and went right in. I put some grease on and tightened the nuts so the springs had tension on them and the cap was fully seated. Then I safety wired up the two bolts...

My Daughter took the ASVAB Test

So Angie just took her first ASVAB Test. All the kids take it in JROTC. She told me she was glad she had a mask on because she was laughing at the automotive section. They asked questions like Identifying what type of fluid under a car could be red? What tool was a feeler gauge (she had to pick) and...

Re: Radius rod, Wishbone, that thing with the ball

They should be. I didn't touch them. All I did was took the ball cap off when I pulled the engine. So nothing else changed. I have moved the car around without the engine in it so i bet that moved the front axel around some.

Radius rod, Wishbone, that thing with the ball

OK so my engine is in and the motor mounts are bolted as well as the front. My Radius Rod needs to go back about an inch. Someone recommended jacking up the rod and it should pop in. I tried and that didn't work. These are the same parts going back together. Is there a way to shift the front end bac...

I would recommend you get the stainless steel ones that the vendors sell. Then when you instal them chuck them up in a drill and spin them into place.

Radious rod ball off

So when I went to hook up my Radious rod it didn't line up. I'm thinking that I have to jack up the frame of the car to allow the front suspension hang and line it up that way. Am I missing something?

Re: Steering Wheel Key

I can place the key in the slot on the shaft (pinion) but the I try to put the wheel on it won't fit. I can also place the key on the spider and it will fit. The pinion is new so it could be that the spider is messed up.
