Re: Mystery Engine. Need help Identifying
I do remember seeing those cars when I was in Germany. Maybe my neighbor had some other make car. I didn’t pay much attention to the little buggers when I was there. I also guggled Gutbrod cars. Seems they held of on fuel injection until 1920. So I guess the one pictured does have fuel injection aft...

That Gutbrod pictured is a lot newer than any I have ever seen. It has a metal body.

Some later two cycle cars, like DKW, had an oil injection system which injected oil right into the cylinders. They used far less oil and helped to keep it well lubricated when decelerating or going down a long hill. They also smoked a lot less than the ones with oil in the gas. It looks like that on...

I spent three years in Germany from 1956 to June 1959. I saw many of those cars. Gutbrod. They were twocycle engines, were not fuel injected. They were not diesels. Get a box of Chev V8 rod nuts and forget the cotter pins.
The nuts don’t loosen on modern engines.
If you’re worried that they will loosen then put pal nuts on after the nut is tightened or use locktight.

Re: Period trailer?
F1 ford has a drop center wheel and five lug nuts.
That trailer is a six bolt wire spoke wheeler with a lock ring on the rim. Late twenties at best.
Could be late twenties chrysler, definitely NOT from a ‘40 Plymouth pickup. They we five lug nut with disc wheels.

Re: Battery relocation
Do you really think moving the battery to the truck will keep it warmer than in the battery box?

Wow.
Thanks for posting your fine book! I enjoyed it. Loved the pictures, loved the write up on the leather rod bearing.

Re: foot throttle
Back in the day cars had foot feeds. Tractors had throttles.
I put a foot feed on my touring some years ago.
It was either that or power steering. The hand throttle still works as before.

Re: OT: Radiator Badge Attachment
Get some blue or gray RTV, put a spot of it on the back of the badge and tape it to the radiator shell and get on with life.
Take the tape off after a day and a night.
It probably will be a beech to get off some day. So?
The will not rot the RTV.

He said the mechanics listened to him tell about the home made p oil and tried it themselves. He says there is a problem that happens to their tru...

I met Fred when he came to California when he was inducted into the Model T Speedster Hall of Fame.
I read things he wrote with great interest.

Re: Anyone on here who was on the first Forum?
I was also on the first forum. I think it was 1999, maybe ‘98. The first forum poster I met at his house was ClearLake Buddy at Clear Lake,Ca. He was a regular. The other Bud was Kennith Delong in Michigan. He was a regular then too. I remember a time for some months when almost nobody posted on the...
