Just a thought. Looking at your second photo, it appears that the lapped area of the valve appears grey and the unlapped portion appears silver. If that is correct then your valve is seating deep into the block, grinding the seat will only make the valve seat deeper. Ideally you want the lapped surf...

Rich, we used to take out poilet bushings this way. If the hole is a blind hole, run a pipe thread tap in the bushing. I am guessing that would be about 3/8 NPT. Thread in a grease zerk and hook up your grease gun.

Re: Vaporizer Carb rebuild and or how to operate (car will not start!!)

Dave, Those are the diagrams I used. If you look at them you will see a couple of things that may make for hard starting. First is the choke shaft, the end of the choke shaft actually partially closes off a passage for free air at starting. Thus drawing more fuel. The second is the "air damper" make...

Re: Vaporizer Carb rebuild and or how to operate (car will not start!!)

Dave, I am certainly no expert as I have only done one, but I will share what I learned. Having worked on a couple of Fordson vaporizers may have given me a bit of an advantage. First if you are going to rebuild it, remember everything has to be air tight. The fuel is drawn from the bowl up almost t...

Re: Model T governor fan

Harold,
Here is a copy of a fairly common fan governor. I have one like this so I saved the info.
It was posted here in the past, but I don't recall by whom.
Just another example of the great help here on MTFCA.
Hope it helps

Hank, Glad to hear all is well. Those fenders just have "character" for the next generation. I had a similar experience with Thelma Tae, i had just gotten her on the road after a very prolonged sleep. I was quickly approaching a "T" intersection when as I began to throttle down the Universal transmi...

Re: And this tractor in Arizona...

Don Robert the owner used to bring this tractor up to our Early Day Gas Engine and Tractor show just out side of Salt Lake City. He would drive a stake in the ground put a cable around the stake and attach it to the tractor, then he would turn the wheels and tie the steering wheel. He would start th...

Joe, I have attached a couple of scans. When you mentioned your vaporizer was a coil, it got me thinking. Kingston MD's have a large rectangular block that has a maze cast in it for the hotplate. Earlier Holly's have the coil. Again hope these help, Kevin PS John as far as valves, try the Fordson Ho...

Re: Fordson Assistance

Joe, The small reservoir at the bottom of the vaporizer plate has a needle and seat that is controlled by a small rectangular float. That bowl fills with fuel and then is drawn in small amounts up the through the vaporizer plate to the mixer. If that float and needle and seat cant control the fuel i...

Re: Fordson Assistance

Jim, Fordson's can be a bit troublesome to start. My view is it has to do with the design of the vaporizer, the fuel leaves the tank goes down to the level of the float bowl, and then has to drawn up through the vaporizer plates to the air intake and then back down to the intake manifold. If the tra...

Re: Oil pump

Just enjoying the read, and it got me thinking. Has anyone ever made a pump similar to the Ford 8N, it is integral with the front main cap. Pretty small and is driven off the crank gear. I am sure you would have to run a sump, but it works well for lot's of tractors. Thanks for the indulgence, Kevin...

Re: How do you separate two transmission drums?

Marvin,
As was mentioned it should just slide apart. Check the teeth on the gear sometimes they get a bit of a burr on them and that will keep them from coming apart. Hope that makes sense.
Best of luck,
Kevin

That looks a bit like a Simmons Super Power carb. I'll bet if you look at the tag it was made by Simmons.
Try a google search "Mtfca forum Simmons" and you should be able to get the info you are looking for,

Re: Two Piece Lug Nuts on Modern Vehicles

Hal, I know the problem has been around for some time. GM used stainless capped lugnuts on the early "Rally" wheels, I believe sometime '68 Camaro, and Corvette, so yes they have been a pain for a long time. Interesting I see this post as I took my wife's 2014 Ford Escape in for a tire rotation just...

Interesting engine on e-bay

Ok, I have no connection to this ad, it is on e-bay by Mark Fremiller from Model T Haven, but what the heck is this engine. If it is a go fast engine someone surely has history on it as someone spent a lot of time engineering this thing, So what is the story????? Kevin https://www.ebay.com/itm/Model...
