Re: Trading up, or sideways?
We rode our A Sport Coupe quite a bit and were comfortable in it. Rode some folks in the rumble seat a few times. The only time I would haul people in the bed of a truck would be in a parade. We would love a roadster pick-up but I doubt that we can find one in our price range, although I would consi...

Trading up, or sideways?
We have had our '21 Touring since late 2016. While we have owned it we bought, and later sold a '28 A Sport Coupe. We have enjoyed the T, mostly riding to local cruise-ins, parades, and ice cream runs. The Touring runs and drives well, needing the new top we have installed to be pretty much complete...

I had at one time, hoped to maybe find a set of demountable wheels for it. But I now know that demountables take different tires that what we now have, so if someone donated a set of wheels, ( yeah right), the $1200+ for a set of tires would be a problem.

Our local parades are coming up soon, as are most I suppose. I'm thinking I'll ride our three grandsons in our '21 Touring. Then, I'm seriously considering selling the car. For reasons evidently known only to Ford Motor Co they changed to Positive ground when the Model A came out as 1928 models and stayed with the positive ground thru 1955, then changed to 12 volt, negative ground, I think.

Thanks, maybe I've been doing it the hard way. I usually do things the hard way. I found that the length of the 888s, according to an old Schrader catalog, is 2 13/16".
And it appears that the threads are a non-standard size that I won't be able to buy taps or dies for.

Re: I can't buy it but I'll help get it going
Yeah, it had a jagged hole the size of a dime in the plate. I've tried to post a pic of the plate but that's another story. :? The hole could be the reason the car was parked in the early seventies. I don't think the owner knew much about repair & maintenance. I have another plate ordered from Lang'...

problems posting pics , contacting moderator
I've been here since the old site, back in 2016. Now I cannot post pics and the "contact us" feature won't work for me to ask a moderator about it. Can I get some help, please? Thanks. :( Edit- I've learned a lot and been able to do a lot of things to our '21 Touring with help/advice form folks on h...

Re: Drill Bit Quality
One important thing to know about using a drill chuck is to tighten all 3 of the jaws and the drill bit won't spin in the chuck, it was years of frustration before I figured that out. Just my 2 cents worth. I agree. Simple as it seems to us adults, I remember when I was a young man, yeah it's been ...

Re: Holley Vaporizer troubles
The owners/sellers want it fixed ASAP so I need to try the new plate first. They live in Florida and are staying here in NC until the estate is settled and I don't want the sell of the Model T to keep them longer than they want to stay. If it were mine I would ditch the vaporizer and install a carb ...

Holley Vaporizer troubles
The otherwise nice '27 Coupe that I'm working on for a family having an estate sale has a d**m Holley vaporizer carb still on it. I've done everything else I can to get it to run and when I removed the carb I found the vaporizer plate behind it had a hole burned in it. I tried making one but it didn...

Re: I can't buy it but I'll help get it going
I have a few hours invested in the car so far. It has good compression now and good spark at the coils. I still haven't gotten it to run, except when spray starting fluid in the air intake. Unfortunately it still has the Holley vaporizer carb on it.

I can't buy it but I'll help get it going
A friend called me a few days ago because he knows we have a T, a '21 Touring, and told be his family had one that they were going to sell. It has been in the family since 1960 and has been in a garage, up on blocks since probably the 70s. We went to check it out and found a very well preserved '27 ...

My wife and daughter decorated the house for Christmas, yes we still say Merry Christmas at my house, and my daughter created this little village for me. Two Ts and an Olds.

Re: hands-on how to videos
Yeah, it's not the dirt and grease gotten on hands during the work that grosses me out, it's the black crap under the nails and in the wrinkles/ ridges that has obviously been there and probably stays there. To each his own but no need to go 'round like Neanderthals. I guess I watch at least as many...

hands-on how to videos
Call it my pet peeve but when I watch how to videos I hate seeing hands with nasty fingernails that appear to have enough grease under them to pack a wheel bearing. I'm no candy-a** soft handed wimp and I do my own work on my Model T (and Model A), but my hands and nails don't look like the ones I s...

Re: Starting the Model T
I've seen people who try to "wind 'em up" round & round. Our '21 starts with just a gentle upward pull. It's so easy I bet my 10 year old grandson could do it. I might have him try next time he's at our house. He drove it when he was 9!

Re: Rescuing a 23 Fordor on YouTube
If it's truly rescued it'll be a lot of work getting the red paint back off the wheels. :( And one should go ahead and have the complete interior reupholstered as it will never dry out. The coil box is also probably ruined. I believe he has done more damage with the pressure washer than the ...

Re: How Often Do You Clean Your Timer ?
If we drive it often I clean the New Day timer on our '21 Touring monthly. That often because the cam seal leaks a little bit and I haven't taken the time to replace it yet. Maybe this winter.
Or switch to a roller timer and not worry about it.

Re: HELP!!! SHOULD I USE A WATER PUMP??
20 responses to your question and you didn't get scolded. I'm surprised. Water pumps tend to be a "heated" topic, almost like religion or politics, it seems, among T people. Our '21 Touring has a water pump on it that the previous owner had installed and I left it on. Personally, I don't think I wou...

Re: Rebuildable wheels needed
I think one wheel on our T has been repaired at some time in the past with a screw in place of one of the rivets, like shown on the ModelTFordFix.com site. There is a swap meet coming up here on Oct 2-3 and I will look for some wheels (and other parts) for our '21 Touring. My problem with the wheels...

I managed an auto parts store in the 80s that had a full automotive machine shop. We took in a newly rebuilt (non-T) engine that had been built elsewhere and failed after a very short time. My tech found that it had failed due to oil starvation because the oil pickup screen was filled completely wit...

Re: Rebuildable wheels needed
Good luck. I wish I had known a little more about wheels when I bought our '21 Touring. I would never have bought a T with non-demountable, wood felloe wheels. I thought the car was a good deal, and it would have been even better if not for the wood felloe wheels. A word to other potential T buyers....
