Alan, more concerned with the brass and material getting into Babbitt and the quick wearing of the drums. This stuff feels like 60-80 grit sandpaper.

Would you use this material in your transmission? Trying to understand pros and cons of using this material with brass woven in.

If you’re wanting a good free neutral, the first place to address is to replace the low speed notch and cam. While you’re at it, replace the reverse and brake cams to. I use standard model t disks and always rebuild the hogshead and this has made it easy to setup a free neutral.

Re: Stevens front axle reaming tool

George, I have the Stevens frame made by Jack and reamers reproduced by Dan, I have repaired over 16 front axles. Tool and reamers work fantastic.

Be aware Dan has no plans currently on having anymore reamers made, hopefully you have the reamers if your only looking for the frame.

Re: Painting Wire Wheels

If the current paint is in good/decent condition, I would use a scotch brite pad and a buckets of water with dish washing liquid to scrub them down. Rinse, Dry and spray painted with Rustoleum professional gloss black. No need to spend $$$ sandblasting them If in decent condition.
