Re: Model T philosophy: What is a restoration?
While I didn’t restore an actual car, I started with a chassis I bought for $75. It’s probably around a 1925 frame but the first motor I found was an early 1914 so I had to go with that. I started out driving with the later springs, axles and wheels but changed those for the correct ones. I got real...

I’ve had this carbide generator for a while but kept telling myself i was going to paint it before putting it on. Out of sight out of mind, so I went ahead and put it on. Now that I have to look at it I’ll probably take it off and paint it and get my gas line ran. It will be nice to have it there wh...

Somebody at some time made them with a straight slot for a screwdriver. Out of all these only 3 are the ones with the 2 angled cuts. Those Simmons carbs have one passage. It’s function is to add air to the mixing chamber itself. That same passage on an NH would be the one that goes from under the ID tag to the mixing chamber. I may try it, I think maybe one of the two wires is an output from the mag and the other is grounded through the aluminum housing that holds it onto the side of the motor. There are actually two separate coils in the one unit. They both knock down the voltage so the headlights don’t burn out. The bright wire goes to one and the dim to the other, the single wire goes to the headlights to be wired in series.

Re: Mini rant, T related
I sent a postal money order to a locksmith company in San Antonio for an ignition switch for my modern car. After a couple weeks I called and they said they had never received it. The post office said I could open an investigation and get a refund if the money order isn’t cashed after some time, 6 m...

Re: Rust removal Evapo-Rust
I took these Overland springs to the car wash today after soaking one side for 2 days in a large tub with water and a $6 bottle of citric acid powder I bought at Walmart. They were pulled out of a field along with what was left of the car after it sat there for who knows how long but they were rusty...

Re: Help to ID carb
Looks like a brass body L4. Those had a smaller bowl nut than the cast iron version. It’s also missing one of the arms for the choke, and it has a late model spray needle. Those bowls will interchange with the early NH bowls (to the left) but have a different drain.

Re: Holley NH Questions
The offset drain NH’s came with long arms. Some of the earlier center drains came with long arms. The casting for the side drain NH’s was different, having the air bleed/vent hole to the side requiring an extra passage to be drilled and plugged. The casting was modified when the center drain came ou...

I had to stop and look at this. I was informed it was not for sale and it was the owner’s grandfather’s car that he (the owner) had built for his nephew or something like that. Lake Palestine, Texas.

Steve, it could be. It was on a 1920 stationary engine I bought at Chickasha, had a Pat’s Pending Holley G and a riveted hub fan with only 2 blades.

Larry, here are a few more. The later one won’t slide in, but it might if I sanded the rust off some.

I bought this one to go on my 14 but haven’t installed it. It fits snug in an S but is a bit loose in an NH.

How many cars in a T built from parts?
I was on my way home yesterday thinking it was a nice day for a drive in a 106 year old car. Then I got to thinking, the majority of the car is from 1914, but I assembled it over many years. I bought a frame and axles for $75 when I was 14 and shortly thereafter found an engine, a 1914. Now it was a...

On the right the “oit” from Detroit is visible. They weren’t too careful with the stamp because 1/2 of it is missing on mine.

Somebody a while back was looking for one of these and they were out of stock. I can’t remember who it was but I saw this on eBay. It needs a little work and the handle is different but it might be of interest.

If purchase a new tag they always come with steel drive screws and they look funny. Chaffin’s has the brass ones you can purchase separately. I’ve only tried to save the tag if it says Model F because the reproduce the other 2 styles. The straight through tags for the ones that have them are slightl...

I saw this for sale on eBay. This looks more robust than the usual chain links. Was this an aftermarket accessory, a non-T speedometer chain or one for a T I’m not familiar with?
