Re: FS AUXILIARY TRANSMISSIONS

Mark, It's hard to tell from the angle of the photo, but I think the first one is a Woodward auxillary. They are a two speed with either direct and under or direct and over...John.

Re: Ruckstell Bearing/Bronze Plate (P211/P139) Fit

I rebuilt a Ruckstell where the babbit thrust had failed in it. Some chunks of babbit had wedged it the large bearing and caused it to seize and move on the bronze plate. There was just enough wear so that it was no longer a press fit. It was fixed with a new bronze plate from Chaffins...John

Not mine, but definitely a two speed...They are easier to shift as they have dog clutches of a sort..

Re: Carburetor intake air pre-heater as a cleaner

The biggest problem with an air cleaner on a T is that the carb isn't pressure balanced. The bowl is vented to the atmosphere and when you add any thing that restricts the flow, the carb tends to load up. This could probably be cured by adding a tube from the vent to the air intake on the carb..This...

Re: not model T Continental engine

Continental made mostly industrial engines, so perhaps you could find something from the industrial engine parts houses. I used Foley Industrial Engine years ago for a camshaft. It was expensive but beggars can't be choosers...I think they are still in business....

Re: Where did you get your rear axle shafts

I bought from Chaffin's for my Ruckstell- rebuild....Dave was great and All is well...I did have to thin the keys a bit. I don't mind this as it is normal as near as I can tell, from other projects....
The 1/16 th longer axle was fine and worked well with the 26-27 hubs I had....

Re: Is Florida ethanol different?

Stabil is one of the worthless ones....The only decent one that I have found ( And I have tried them all) is the Lucas green stabilizer in the tall bottle... I have forklifts, air compressors, generators etc....I am in Vt and the Humidity is bad and having some history in Florida, it is much worse t...

I vented the Ruckstell I rebuilt for my speedster. With the sealed pinion and in my case, sealed safety hubs and neoprene grease seals, I feel the axle is pretty much air tight....

Re: Raven Finished Hardware

Brownells makes a product called Oxpho blue. It is available in a creme formula and a liquid. They produce slightly different results and can be used together to get the exact shade you want. They are easy to apply and don't require absolute cleanliness to use, although the cleaner the better. It is...
