I have a couple extra flatheads to include a 255 Mercury motor that was disassembled. What I found was no one wanted to give an honest value to them, so I quit trying to sell them. They want the blocks cleaned and magnifluxed, and then only want to pay $300-$400 for one. Doesn’t make it worth trying...

I got the refurbished gas tank back on the TT along with a newly rebuilt carb w/shutoff valve and installed some new plugs and cleaned up the sparkplug wire contacts. Just to add and to be honest, it really depends on where you are as to the value as well. Being in California probably less than to someone in one of the rust belt states where these parts are becoming unobtanium especially given the rise in shipping prices for something of the size of fenders. -Matt

I forgot to add, the long side of the board goes down with the flat lip so that the bottom seat spring sets up against it. I'm guessing the bevel is there to allow the spring to slide down into place. - Matt

I'll try to get you guys some pictures of the original one in mine. I can tell you it's not so much a door as it is a spacer to keep the seat springs snug. It's only about 1 1/2" - 2" wide and cut with a bevel on one side. Will see what I can do about pictures a little later. - Matt

I think Stan Howe has a really good thread in one of the older forums on rebuilding the Ruxtell shiftlock assembly with pics. I used it as a guide for working on my TT. I do know that if the screwed in plug isn’t in far enough it won’t stay engaged and if too far will not let you shift it. -Matt
