Driving on "Battery"
Sadly, with my magneto no longer operational, I'm now resigned to driving my T on battery only going forward. Other than making sure I have a good battery with sufficient charge, what other things do I need be aware of driving this way? Thank you in advance for your help.

Re: Vintage Cupholders?
Tired of coffee spills, I gave up on trying to be clever/period correct. I bought a great cup holder from Amazon. Take a look at the Universal Cup holder made by Accmor for $10.99. It fastens anywhere on the dash (mine is just right of the steering column) it has a rubber grip cushion, it's made of ...

Re: MAGNETO TROUBLESHOOTING
Hi Scott, I disconnected the magneto lead and checked AC voltage from the post to ground. The needle on my multi meter read zero and didn't budge with changes in RPM.

Re: MAGNETO TROUBLESHOOTING
Thank you one and all for your interest in my problem and your extremely helpful suggestions. I'm sorry to report my problem is the magneto is simply not producing any voltage at all. I do not see any path from here other than a magneto coil assembly replacement at my next (if ever) engine rebuild. ...

Re: MAGNETO TROUBLESHOOTING
Thank you John. Your suggestion is good but if the coil box is the problem wouldn't it not run when on battery as well?

Question: If the engine runs fine on battery how can the problem be with the coil box if it won't run reliably on magneto?

Re: MAGNETO TROUBLESHOOTING
Many thanks Scott. You may not remember but you helped me with my last mystery -- unexplained engine rattle. One of the things I checked while running the loops was cam shaft end play. It was found to be within limits. (BTW my problem was engine knock caused by my aluminum high compression head. My ...

Re: MAGNETO TROUBLESHOOTING
Thanks everybody. I bought the car 5 years ago and it had had a "ground-up" restoration and total engine rebuild. It has run superbly until recently. With the engine rework I assume the mag coil ring had been replaced as well and I can see the contact point is shiny like new. When the magneto is wor...

MAGNETO TROUBLESHOOTING
Hello Everyone. I'm having trouble with the magneto "cutting out" on my '23 Touring. I'll be driving along normally when it quits. The wiring and connections are good, I have replaced the back of the switch and the magneto post. There's nothing left but the magneto itself, right? Can anyone tell me ...

MAGNETO POST WITH OUTSIDE OIL LINE CONNECTION
Can anyone tell me where I can find a 3 screw magneto post with the external oil line connection? Mine works intermittently and before I try to fix it, I'd just like to just buy a replacement. Thank you.

Re: Motor knock
Harold, Do you by chance have an aluminum high compression head? I do and I had a very similar loud knock as you described. It drove me crazy trying to find the cause. It turned out to be pre-ignition engine knock. I found by running 91 octane and using a little less advance the noise went away.

Gwendolyn is a beauty!! My experiences are similar to yours. My "Gracie" always draws a crowd at the few fund raiser car shows we attend despite all the competing muscle, bling and loud pipes. On one such occasion we were positioned between a gorgeous '63 slit window 'Vette and a Ferrari Super Ameri...

Re: Younger Members
My optimism fades and then something happens that restores my faith. Recently "Gracie" and I were stopped at a traffic light when a couple of late teen or early twenties youths pulled up next to me in a pick up truck. The driver asked what year my T was. When I replied "1923", he immediately turned ...
