Magneto not working
I’ve been able to start on battery and switch to magneto with no issues until today.
I’ve checked all the obvious (to me) places, connections and post. Also took apart the switch and found nothing.
I started this morning and mag was functioning, this afternoon nothing.
What am I missing.
Thanks,
Bob

Replacing wiring on a drill press
My drill press quit, so I decided it was time to replace the 50+ year old wiring. My press had a reverse switch added in the 60’s and the insulation on the wiring was old, cracked. Hail and an old top
I made room in my garage for a friend to store his new Porsche while he was moving. I left my Runabout outside for the night and then went to the coast. When I returned the next day, I discovered we had an ugly T storm hover directly over my beloved T. Some estimates on hail diameters where golf bal...

Re: What timer do you use
Marshal, sometimes it’s not the one component, but a combination of many. You didn’t sate why your dissatisfied. I also put a New Day timer on my runabout, and was very pleased with the results. This was after I also replaced the spark plugs and plug leads, new wiring harness and had my coils rebuil...

Mentorship
I’m not sure if this should go in the OT thread, but I’m thinking it’s all encompassing. As the title stated, it’s about mentoring. This week in Redding, Ca. we have a car show, Kool April Nights. I always win the super teen award for my 1916 T runabout. That’s not because it’s a super cool car, it’...

Re: Location of 1915 body serial number plate?
My 1916’s engine number puts it early Feb. 1916. The 3 16 xxxxxx plate on the seat frame puts the body a month later.

Re: Drill and tap
Scott, I thought about that, not sure how to go about a spacer plate. If you can advise how to do this I would be beyond grateful. Pictures help me me.
BTY, I just returned from 2 weeks working out of Sheridan.

Drill and tap
I want to add a priming pump to the intake manifold. It’s a 4 cylinder 1911 Buick and very close to the T, but the T is a sweet heart compared to anything else. I’m drilling holes into a manifold that I would hate to mess up. Question is, what drill or bore do I use for a 1/4 np 18 thread. 31/64 or ...

Re: Another rear ended question?
Tim, I appreciate your offer. I am going with the new school bearings.
I’m trying to figure out we’re the top half of the roller bearings went. I found one finger nail size piece and nothing else.

Re: Another rear ended question?
Sorry about the title, spell checker? I opened up the the axle housings and was extra careful this time and, bingo, axles turn by hand. I’m still learning, and I’ll call it providence that I had the misaligned washer. While I had the drive line disconnected I looked at the Hyatt bearing behind the p...

Another rear ended question?
After checking to see if I had brass thrust washers, I rebolted axle housing and drive line. How easy should the driveline axle unit turn? It seems to be pretty stiff when I turn it with a large crescent wrench. Should it be almost a free spool?
What could the cause of the stiffness be?

I have the inner steel washer set in the pin, does the outer have a pin for the steel washer on the axle housing?

Axle housing reattachment ?
I removed the rear end and opened the housings to check to see if it had brass or Babbitt thrust washers. It had brass, so now trying to reconnect the housings but I’ve a 1/4 gap between the housings. I’m thinking that the outside thrust washers have slipped down between the Hyatt bearing and were t...

Re: Valve guide clearance
I think I was blessed with a low mileage engine. The second owner bought it in 1955 and was told at the time, 1955, that it was driven less than 1000 miles. He put new piston rings in. I bought this from him, my first T, three years ago. I was sold by his story, about him and his Dad, finding it in ...

Valve guide clearance
I’m replacing my old two piece valves with modern stainless valves. They are original standard .312 valves. I measured the guides at varying places and it’s a pretty consistent .317. Should I stick with the standard size, or ream .010 over and get the 10 over size valves? The 1916 engine appears to ...
