Re: BAITH WITH CAUTION...MOISTURE IN THE COIL BOX

Interesting and timely too! Excellent thread! Glad you're running again Tom. That Casco is very cool Andrew. Preservatives for wood: A little off topic. Would Flood's Penetrol work as well as Minwax wood hardener? For coil wood. The '18 here had his coil box rebuilt in the mid-late 70's with a plywo...

Stopped at Bob's near Milan some years ago, headed north on 17 or 29 and stopped in. The fella gave this to me. I did buy an OT engine from him tho.

Yikes. I'm not going looking for that. A T? And a 1206 too? I'm more for the building up or making do. I wonder if it's the same bonehead that started his tube career by putting a cement block on the throttle of an RX-7 years ago? The wife wants me to scrap my '53 motor grader due to engine issues. ...

Super neat find in that cute red head! I agree with Tim, your turn to leave your mark in the door.

Re: Using just the buzz/points of a model T coil?

Thank you for the thoughts gentlemen. :) If I set a coil alight over time, I'll admit it. I'll watch for heating tho. I wonder how they constructed a buzz points set that didn't over heat back then which baffles me. But the tests were to work the condenser and coil in the armature. Too bad the books...

Above my station? Oh yeah. ;) "What are you trying to do?" Pat, I'm building a magneto armature tester like a Bosch 253 (1928) or similar to what's shown in the Dyke's Encyclopedia. Both have a set of vibrating points for low tension yet neither will divulge more about that. Thanks Poppie! I'll keep...

Using just the buzz/points of a model T coil?

Maybe a dumb question. Can I use a grounded out T coil on a test stand for something else? Grounded out meaning the high tension lead grounded to the commutator terminal. Thinking 6-12 Volts to operate the points. The tests may be several minutes long. All testing is non-destructive meaning the coil...
