Re: Installing a battery cut off switch
I've installed several of these over the years on vehicles. I've never heard of putting them on the ground side so I always put them on the positive side. Here is the one I installed on my Delivery. Later I flipped it around so the swing arm of the switch is de-energized when open. I placed this one...

The one I use is also an old A horn and had the same problem. I discovered through trial and error that I needed larger wire in the whole circuit for the horn. I did disassemble the horn and clean / lubricate first. Then later discovered it needed larger wire.

Steve I used to understand things like this but this one stumped me. Without an oscilloscope I couldn't even begin to figure it out. The coil was a hail Mary and I'm glad it worked. My guess is the coils throwing electrical noise all the way to the battery. But it's just a guess.

Just a note on adjusting the clutch screws. Before pulling the cotter pin, put a string through the head so you can't drop it. I learned this the hard way and it took forever to get the dropped cotter pin out of the transmission.

Re: Canvas Top Delivery/ Hack
Once this was stapled all around I added a layer of batting material. This came off Amazon for about 30.00. It wasnt really streatched much, just enough to cover everything.

To keep the staples a uniform distance from the top I used a home made jig to set the distance from the top down. I used a hand staple gun and 5/16 staples.

Re: Canvas Top Delivery/ Hack
In researching the top for my vehicle I found about half a dozen different materials and ways to do this. In the end I settled on Canvas. Duck canvas to be specific because it thicker. I bough the stuff I used off eBay for about 50.00. It was 56 inches wide and sold by the yard. I also bought the bu...

I ran into the problem too. Bought some of these things from McMaster Carr but can't remember the part number. I think they we called press nuts or something like that. I ground out the stripped one and welded in the new one.

Cleaning rust has become one of my favorite things. I find it almost meditative. I use a Chicago rotary tool from Amazon for about 35.00 and buy the wire brushes off eBay at about 2.00 a piece when bought in quantity of 20. If you use this method wear a respirator and saftey glasses plus gloves. The...

I had cranking problems on one of mine that matches yours. I found the pack nut felt on top of the carb was leaking air. I replaced it and added a few drops of oil to it to help seal it. Cranked fine after this. About a year later it started having trouble cranking again so I put a few drops of oil ...
