I was led to believe that my August (or December) 1915 T Was supposed to have all this brass on the tail and sidelights, so I chased brass tops for my actually authentic side and taillights (which were black steel, which someone plated brass.....) because they "weren't right". My vote is plain flat glass. Laminated glass is thinner and may break easier. I would also be concerned about the heat and the laminate. That's what I was thinking as well - the glass on an acetylene light gets toasty, and I'd worry about the laminate between the sheets. I had a local glass company...

Re: putting a battery in a 1915
If the car has all the original 1915 wiring, eg no starter or generator, constant loss electrical system for the coils and lights, then you can safely hook it up either way... in fact, it's better for the points of the coils if you reverse it every so often. I'll even throw another ringer in here - ...

Re: Warford, gear oil, tips on shifting
My experience is only my experience, but I found thicker lubes (I use 600W steam cylinder oil) made my Warfords and Muncies much easier to shift and the heavier body oil muffled most of the gear noise. Everyone seems to have their "special recommendations" on what to run, but seriously, read what F...

I had a rather strange but effective starting ritual when the car had been sitting a while. Gas off, battery on, pull each cylinder to TDC and let the coils buzz for a few seconds each (I used to call it warming up the glow plugs, probably more like burning the oil off the ends)... Key off, Gas on, ...

The positives of having varnished wheels VS body color is (a) you can see what kind of wood is there (you REALLY want white oak spokes?) and (b) IF they deteriorate you can see it easier. Offered for what its worth... it's your car, you can do what you want to... but if I see that really pretty cher...

Not a "replica". It was built the same way, using the same materials, as would have been used in the late 40's and 50's. Add to it the power plant IS high performance as was built back yonder, A "replica" would use an inordinate amount of modern stuff... this was built like the real deal. IDK about ...

Re: Lueders Tx Model T river crossing. 1915?
Of course the absolute earliest it could be is 1917, because of the black radiator. I'm hazarding a guess, using not the car but the bridge and how it's built, to say it was early to mid 20's. As to the bridge - It was VERY common on wood deck auto bridges to have a second course of boards as "tire ...

The rods (and dippers, if so equipped) hits the oil pools in the pan, splashing it to the cylinder walls and internals... the magnets (or dippers, if sans-magnets) literally throw a shower of oil into the oil pick up tube and over the transmission... It's a coal stove - you can see it in the scuttle ("bucket") and shovel. Loads through the "chute" on the side, and the gearing takes a hand crank on the center gear (it's on top of the stove, next to the back of the headlight) to moves the grates on the bottom to clear them out and break up clinker...
