In the past I have lifted the hogs head in different areas just enough to slide in tiny wooden wedges, apply the gasket sealant, then pull the wedges out and bolt back up.

If you usually use antifreeze or soluble oil in your cooling water don’t bother adding it to the radiator until you have gone through 2-3 head bolt tightening sequences first and you know you have no leaks. No use fiddling with the chemicals until the leak is fixed and the mess it can cause.

I have both a 1919 and a 1931 and like the differences in how they drive. At one time I owned 3 Model T’s but eventually slimmed down to one A and one T. I personally would keep the A!

Same engine in the same frame?
Do the bolt holes for the engine mounts match the holes in the frame?
Does the ball on the wishbone match the cup on the pan?
Does the rod that the pawl is attached to move laterally in the frame?

Keith, I can’t believe you remembered my post from almost 25 years ago. I caught a bunch of flack from the forum group when I “borrowed” two of my neighbor’s wives to help me get my headlight rims off! Yes, they were great with their hands but I swear no hanky panky happened........ :)

They can be very tough to remove. Have someone get behind the bucket to stabilize it so you can push in harder from the front.

Isn’t the potato at the outlet/bottom of most Model T gas tanks a water collection point?
I open the petcock at the bottom occasionally and drain a bit into a small glass jar and check for water.

Just because you will have the engine idling and pressing the low pedal down don’t make the mistake of having the timing all the way retarded. The engine will overheat in a parade quickly. Advance the spark enough for a slightly higher idle. Been there, done that! :)

Texas used to allow year of manufacture plates but does not now. Those that have YOM plates and keep up the registration can still have them as they are grandfathered in but if you forget to send in your payment one time the plates get dropped forever and cannot be re-registered,

I generally adjust the intake valves to 10 thousands and the exhaust valves to 12 thousands since they get hotter and expand more.

I have never had a coil leak in 24 years of driving Model T’s and it gets really hot here in S.E. Texas. I wonder if the coils have been rebuilt in the past and re- potted with something besides the original tar formulation.

I buy the ethanol free gasoline for all my mowers, chain saws, weed eaters and vintage cars. Not only does it have little smell it is clear like water. Years ago someone mentioned using a defunct credit card under each pan ear so sliding the engine out would not scratch the paint but I have no idea if it works and never save old credit cards!

Off topic a bit but......if you use a open trailer on a open T be sure the front floor boards and both front and rear seat bottoms/cushions are secured. Wind at road speed can move anything not lashed down.

For your safety one of the first things you need to do is to make sure the thrust washers in the differential are in good shape with minimal play in the axle shafts.....:)

Are you pulling the gas lever down 1/2” to 1” when cranking? Most T’s I have had do not start cold with the gas lever in the “idle” or up position...... Also, Vaporizer carburetors are real finicky about air leaks especially around the heater plate and the air tube. Those areas need to be sealed fro...

As Jem Bowkett posted above I joined the forum when it was two months old and everyone was on dial up modems. We only had one landline here in the house and I had to unplug our phone to use the Internet. Downloading pictures posted on this forum would sometimes take minutes to load when service was ...

Larry, As long as you can read the posts and ask questions you are 99% on the right track. I don’t use most of the extra functions on many sites and do just fine! :D
