Rootlieb 26-7 hood sides
Anyone know or tried to see if Rootlieb will sell just the louvered hood sides for a 26-7 T? The sides I’ve got are so hammered up at the louvers they look pretty bad, and to try to hammer out each one individually out straight seems like a task. I’ve contacted them to no avail yet and just wondered...

Re: Transmission rebuild question
Hmm, gonna have to wrap my head around that, but I’m sitting in my easy chair and not staring at the bolted up tranny and seeing what happens when I do that...it does take out the wait for parts by mail, and it’s only 4 bolts to take off.....but it does necessitate the engine lift harness....

Transmission rebuild question
Just slapped the 26-27 tranny together but the thrust space between the clutch disc “basket” and brake drum is only .005 or so with the three .042 spacers, is it OK to get one of the older .025 washer from the parts folks to pick up that extra .017 or so thrust space?

LOL, great write up, and I HAD researched and read it when I sent out my plea for the tool (which in the end you recommend to use :D ). But I was close to doing a lot of things I have read about here. My favorite part is the tool was only a 60 mile round trip for you to get, heck, it’s a 40 mile rou...

Yup, been looking at Mike's videos. Wish I had all his equipment to balance and set up a tranny like he’s able to do. Just have to trust that Henry’s design and construction still perform like they should!

Thanks Sonny! I’ve got the lifting harness, I made what you’re describing when I added a starter to my ‘18 last year. And howdy to you and S, we'll get together for BBQ when this social distancing mess is thru!

Texas Hill Country-magneto/flywheel gap gauge
Anyone in the Hill Country (I’m in Comfort-40 miles W of SA on IH10, and I’ll drive a couple hours!) have a KR Wilson magneto and flywheel gap gauge I can borrow for a couple days? I’ll come to you, and deliver it back in a day or two! Just finished recharging magnets, measuring spools and making su...

Unabashed plug for a hand cleaner
A few months ago I was in Colorado and bought some powdered hand cleaner in a little local mercantile store in La Veta. Turns out the stuff is the best cleaner I’ve ever used, puts a serious scrub on the kind of 100 year old grime we frequently get from our hobby! I apologize if this type of post is...

Re: Help and/or opinions on a 26 Roadster fitment problems
Asking this question again in this same thread, hopefully folks will read down to here. Here’s a few picts of the new body blocks under the body subframe, showing how high the body frame sits above the chassis. Should these blocks be sanded down to close this gap? Should the blocks actually be sitti...

Re: Help and/or opinions on a 26 Roadster fitment problems
Frame check turned out OK with check measurement methods I found on the board here. One other question, the body blocks DO need to sit right on the chassis frame, right? After tightening the body bolts down, the wood still sits about 1/8' above the chassis frame top, so I reckon some sanding is in o...

Re: Help and/or opinions on a 26 Roadster fitment problems
Yup....it’s apparent the “repaired” body subframe side is the most out of whack. The drivers side is pretty good as this pict shows, this is just a shim away from a nice closing door. 0F925C47-4988-48FD-9E5D-872D9889A6B1.jpeg I still have the issue of those front mounts being 1/4-1/2” inch apart, I ...

Re: Help and/or opinions on a 26 Roadster fitment problems
By frame replacement, I assume (or hope!) you're talking about body subframe? This was a first test fitting and I reckon I need to make sure the wood blocks sit down tight against the chassis when the body bolts are tight in the mounting ear. And I guess I can check the gaps where the wood blocks si...

Added to...Help and/or opinions on a 26 Roadster fitment problems
As a preview, this is a survivor 26 roadster that has been much hacked upon that I’m trying to resurrect as a roadster pickup. Bottom of cowl and cab patch panels have been welded in. I have found evidence a previous owner also welded in new front cowl supports (the triangular uprights down by drive...

This is really invaluable info for me! Re: Converting a 26 roadster to a roadster pickup
That’s a great point....maybe Scott C will take a look at his new PU and see if there’s any evidence of trunk floor on it. Looking at his bed picts, looks like he doesn’t have a diff hump on his.... I wonder if there’s more “converted” RPU’s out there with beds over metal floors? Seems like it might...

Converting a 26 roadster to a roadster pickup
In the process of doing this and have come to the point where I can add the roadster’s metal floor to the frame. Since this was the original “trunk” floor and there’ll be no trunk, do I need to add the floor back with the pickup bed going over it anyway? It would seem the original metal floor would ...
