You use Ultra Black for a lot of other purposes, why not when you have the pan off clean the inside where the horse shoes go and stick it in place with Ultra Black and run the bolts down to hold it tight in place. All you need to do is figure out how to hook up to the carb and make at point away from the exhaust and you can mount the filter elsewhere.

I think Larry is asking about wear on the pins, if you have .002 wear on the pin, check and see if the wear is all the way around the pin, if not .002 out of round wound make a big difference on how the gear runs and I would replace the pins if that were the case. My .002 cents.

I run only Firestones anymore, I find that they last longer and don't weather like the others. I run 525-21 tires on a couple of my cars because they are 6 plies and are oversized. Everyone says use a late crank but I can't find how to tell the early from late or how to id a EE crank, I think I know which is which but I want to be sure. Explaination with pictures would be appreciated. Thanks.

I hit post before I was done with it, I don't think that there is any advantage on a Model T to pressurize the cooling system, it might actually hinder the thermosyphon effect. With a properly working cooling system the only modification I do is add a thermostat and I have had no heating problems.

For every pound of pressure the boiling point raises 3 degrees, so a 15 lbs system won't boil until 257 degrees.

One important thing to know about using a drill chuck is to tighten all 3 of the jaws and the drill bit won't spin in the chuck, it was years of frustration before I figured that out. Just my 2 cents worth.

I have run a Walbro on my Funster and it ran good and strong but would run low on gas after a while, I think that if I put a fuel pump on it I would still be running it but I didn't want to put on a fuel pump so now it hangs on the wall.

I always find a seal that is the same id and od but 1/2 the width and put 1 in to hold the grease in and another in backwards to hold the water out, seems to work real well, and be sure to use blue boat trailer grease.

Seeing the suit cases on the back of Rich's car reminded me of something I saw a while back that I thought was a great idea.

I hadn't checked the pinch bolt on the aluminum pulley but it was tight and no movement from the pulley, Thanks for the idea it did seem to make the most sense. With a stethoscope there is no noise coming from the timing cover, only from the water outlet.

I don't know what happened to the post that described the noise but it is more of a valve tick than a rod knock noise, it changes with rpm and makes it hot or cold, it changes speed but not intensity.

Thanks Norm, If you reread the original post it does it without the pulley (and belt ) on it, the pulley and fan seem to work kind of like a speaker to magnify the noise but it is very much still there with everything removed.

David, I heard a a story about that garage in Imnaha was that they were experts at changing brake band linings because most of the Model T's that came down the grade to Imnaha burnt up the brake linings. it is a beautiful place and I look forward to getting the locals ideas for trips.

Duey, I think it might have looked better in the first picture, it is a 67 with 250,000 miles on it and all stock, 6 cyl, 4spd, 4x4 manual steering, a real plain jane, it hasn't even gotten a radio (yet).

Mine is a old Atlas that came out of the Nasa shop at Moffett field a long time ago, I got it out of a retired from Nasa machinist that had it stored in his chicken shed, it even came with the original manuals.

This is how I modified a 30x3 1/2 carrier to except a 21 in spare and it can be reversed if you want to.

It was many years ago but I found sealed bearings front and rear and then removed the inner seal so the bearing would oil from the inside but seal to the outside that really helped to hold the oil in the trans.

A friend took this at the parade, I think he caught the moment.

I use GL4 140w in my Muncies and Ruckstells, GL4 doesn't have a lot of sulfur that can damage bronze bushings.

An old radiator repair man told me years ago to put a about 4 table spoons of ground ginger in a cup of hot water, run the car until it's up to temp and pour it in and run it for a while, it has worked many times for me. I go to the Dollar store and get my ginger there, I always carry a small bottle...

I am working with another T guy trying to get a Muncie trans from Oregon to Virginia and he was told by the people at Fastenal that until further notice they will not be shipping anything in or out of the Northwest, I don't know why just that for now they aren't.

I have a whole transmission with a broken case, the gears look like all of the others that I have seen,meaning they look serviceable but you won't know if it is noisy until you drive it. It is to late to call so I will try and call you tomorrow

Did Muncie make a aux trans for a T that doesn't have overdrive? My friend just installed a Muncie in his pickup and it seems to have super under, under and direct. I have never run into this before. I am thinking maybe built for a TT.

When I was in the towing business the two sure signs of spring were increased number of lock outs and old guys on mopeds. Now I listen for the frogs after dark, so far no frogs.

I run a Z head and have driven over The Trail Ridge Road at over 13,000 ft elevation and I didn't notice any difference, I didn't even mess with the carb adjustment, it is set the same as when I am at sea level and runs great at all altitudes.

I had to mill .034 off of my Z head to make it flat and it caused no problems and it didn't seem to change performance any. If you mill it now and need to later you may be out of luck, I would say leave it alone.

Mine is built for fun not for speed so it is a Funster. It has a Muncie but only gets used to load and unload and reverse so I can use the low pedal to go backwards.

Need to replace the front cross member on a 27 pick up and I have some older frames that I could get a donor cross member out of if they are the same. Thanks, Dennis

You don't have to pull the pan with a neoprene seal to get the timing cover off unless you are going to replace the seal. I have had a number of timing covers off and just clean out the old sealer and put new in the groove when putting it back together.

I like it, please keep up updated on the build, I have a camp trailer for behind my Model A pick up that looks similar in design.
