1927 Engine

I was gifted a complete 27 chassis with Vaporizer carb. Of course I’ll be using a regular Holly carb after I look over the engine. What’s the best way to knock out a hole between the cylinders for the carb rod ?

Beware of a guy named William Morgan. He offered to sell a tool in reply to a post I made on the Model T Ford Facebook page. The photo he sent was pulled from this site by Dan Treese. Lucky for me I recognized the photo ! Sadly seems even our poor ole Model T’s aren’t safe nowadays!

That’s a live concert by the Stanley Brothers, Carter and Ralph….late 1950’s I believe. Ralph did part of the sound track in the movie O’ Brother where art thou. He sang Oh Death during the Klan scene. I can’t remember the guys name who’s doing the T sounds, I’ve got it here somewhere.

I have one in my collection. Gotta ask, why would you want to use a 100 yr old Babbitt bushing?? Not arguing at all, just wondering if it’s actually better than a modern bushing.

I just bought a new set of 26-27 top irons..VERY lucky to get them..and half the cost of when they were being made. Why not just replace the bushing while it’s all apart…they’re not that expensive and easy to install. I wouldn’t over think that job

Don’t take this wrong but those steering wheels can be bought all day long for $50 and under. I’ve got a several that I’ve bought from EBay for $25-$30. That’s a very common steering wheel. Good luck with your sale.

Restoring Spark Plugs

I have a descent sized spark plug collection that I plan on making as a display. My question is what’s the best coating to apply to stop the flash rust once they’ve been cleaned ? Would gun bluing work?? It would look more authentic if the bluing will stick to the metal.

Mark, will a simple turn of the rear wheel help line everything up ? Sorry to ask dumb question’s but I’ve never messed with a Ruckstel. Thanks

Are the early Hall shifter housing interchangeable with the later style Ruckstel shifter ? I’m following the very little instructions from the MTFCA booklet, making sure the shifter is in Ruckstel low. I rebuilt the late shifter. When I installed on the axle housing I can’t get it to snap over like ...

Dropacent,
Here is a very early 27 with the stripped louvers. This pic was taken in the late 1950’s, not sure the stripping is original or not. I own the car now and I’m on the fence on putting the louver strips back or not.

I just got a nice set of Violet Ray Lenses for the Roadster. I know the visor was originally black, gloss or flat ? I’m thinking flat.

Thanks Dan. Yes I understand that 2 1/2” slides inside the Iron itself, just wasn’t clear on the exposed part of the Bow.
