One more detail with the original photo, I don't think string ties were a thing in the 1920s.

On the film front, Kodak Tri-X was 400 ASA and Plus-X was 125 ASA.

I wonder if the change to one piece gears was due to the Fellows Gear Shaper becoming commonplace? I assume the riveted gears were hobbed and the one piece gears were made on a Fellows Gear Shaper. You also need to make sure you maintain an adequate radius. If the place you take the crankshaft to mostly does modern cranks they may not be aware of this.

I don't think the woman under the first truck was Toupie Lowther. She would have been in her mid 40s at the time. This photos shows her receiving the Croix de Guerre. I bought this switch at a Tractor Supply shop last time I was in Kansas. I'm planning to fit it to my car on the weekend. It's made in India. The quality looks ok.

Harry, that’s interesting. I’d heard of cracking but didn’t realise there was also reforming to go in the opposite direction.

One of the guys in the local club has re-jetted his carburetors for modern fuel. I tried one of them on my car and it seemed to run better.

This is very interesting. I'll try some out in my car at the Australian Nationals in Dubbo next month.

I see Supercheap Auto has Mobil Super 3000 0W-20 5 litres on special at the moment for $51.69.
