A word of caution to owners of TW timers. The plastic inside the timer wears faster than the metal contact, causing a sharp edge. If you can feel this edge with your finger, then the inside of the timer needs to be machined smooth, if not a new brush will wear down very quickly.

I would measure the valve lash on that valve to make sure it’s fully seated before you take the head off. If it’s much more than .015 or .020 then maybe all you need to do is take the spark plug out and take a wooden dowel and tap down on the valve to make sure it’s all the way down.

What is supposed to hold the lid on? The reproduction one I have fits nicely, but has nothing to tie the lid on. First big bump and off it goes

Re: Choosing a Body Style for CA DMV?

I’ve done all the titles for the MTFCA museum vehicles thru the Indiana DMV and over 10 of my own that are not well known brands. I’ve learned to not argue or correct them, but to accept any description that might describe the car. Just getting a clear title with a vin# that matches a number somewhe...

Model A carb drips

I know this is a model T forum, but many of you out there also have model A’s so I have a question for you. I have a 1931 model A with a Tillotson carburetor with a viton tipped neadle. The float height has been set using an outside clear tube and passes the suction test used for NH Model T carbs. T...

Tony was very instrumental in many of the improvements at the museum. He was a very stubborn guy and we didn’t always see eye to eye, but we always got along. I loved working along side him and learned many British terms for common things with different American names. We had many laughs together wo...

Re: Anderson style timer question

I agree with Tim that the TW timer is an excellent timer. However you need to watch that overtime the softer plastic between the contacts can wear down and that will leave a sharp edge on the metal contacts. When you clean your time or if you can feel that sharp edge you need to have the inside of t...

If you want to run a live steam engine, you need to go to the northern Nevada railroad. There after passing a test they will let you run one 14 miles.Doing that was one of the greatest thrills of my life. To be the actual engineer of a railroad steam engine is something I will never forget

Most small engine carburetors that I ever worked on had a small spring that would I have the float help pull the needle down. Just curious after you drill the hole in the seat bigger how do you polish the edge so that the needle seats good

The Thursday tour leaves the parking lot at approximately 10:30 in the morning. This is a fairly short tour that visits some local attractions. The Friday tour leaves the parking lot between 930 and 10 and travels to Shandon Ohio to visit Ron’s machine shop and the salty dog museum. You will need to...

I have used my barn to store MTFCA vehicles free of charge, but this area will not always be available. We hate to get rid of...

Are you needing your magnets recharged? Bring them to Homecoming and get them recharged for free on our new magnet recharger that was built and donated to the museum by Tony Wiltshire. They have to be removed from the flywheel to do this.

The MTFCA is hosting its annual swap meet at the Model T museum in Richmond Indiana during Homecoming on June 19. This is for prewar items. Call our office to get a spot reserved. Admission to the museum is free that day and there are free tours on Thursday and Friday. Come join in the fun.

I use a propane torch to degrease brake linings. Heating the face of the linings will cause the grease or oil to bubble out. Then use a rag to wipe the bubbles off. Repeat this until no bubbles appear.

I’m very happy you got to see your donated lathe clutch in use. We got items for the machine shop donated from all over the country. I hope more people can come see what we have done here. It’s been fun the last several years transforming a dirty dingy old building into what it is today.

We have no problem securing the rear of the T to the rear of the trailer. We are looking for an easy way to secure the front without having to squeeze pass the right front fender into about 1ft of floor space. I don’t think an additional front door is in his future, although it would solve the probl...

Have any of you developed a tie down system for a Model T for an enclosed trailer that works without getting in the front of the trailer. A friend has a 14 ft enclosed with a remote controlled winch.
