Re: Fuel Consumption
This car is new to me, I had the engine rebuilt, it was set up with a Model A Carb which I have changed to a Rebuilt NH. When I first tried to start it with about 3/4 of an inch of gas in the tank it would not run. I added about 2", bringing the level in the tank to about 3", It would start, run for...

Fuel Consumption
My 1915 CenterDoor seems to be starving for fuel. How much gasoline does a T consume in ounces per minute?
I want to compare that to the amount that is running into the Carb.

My 1911 Torpedo needs new conn rod bearings, should I go with Inserts rather than conventional Babbitt?
Thanks,

Model A question
I have a '31 A400 that gets little use because it's not a "T". I recently Trailered it up to Maine, (4hr. Ride) After I off loaded it I checked all the precious bodily fluids and found the coolant was down 2 gallons. (it was full when I put it in the Trailer) I refilled it and drove it for 4 days, n...

Re: How do I convert a 6v starter to run on 12v?
I should have provided more info.
Starting is not a problem. The car has a 12v. battery, 12v. coil & distributor, headlights etc.
High compression head.
I want to lessen the stress on the Bendix, ring gear etc.
Thanks,
Dave

Re: 1915 Center Door, pulling the engine
There appears to be enough clearance for the arms to slide under the Firewall/hood former. I've removed the firewall brackets. It looks like the only problem is getting the pedals past the firewall. I'm reluctant to remove the hood former for fear of messing up the paint where the hood former meets ...

1915 Center Door, pulling the engine
I'm about to pull the engine on my 1915 Center Door, do I need to remove the fire-wall/hood former in order to get it out? If I remove the reverse and brake pedals and lay the clutch down, will I be able to pull it out with out removing the fire wall?
Thanks,
Dave

Magnets Vs. Slingers
I'm rebuilding my 1915 CenterDoor engine. It currently has a distributer and slingers. It also has a Warford, High Compression head,
& Model A Carb.
I know Distributers and Mags don't go together, but is there an advantage to having either magnets or slingers?
Your humble opinions are desired.

What is the difference between a "EE" Crankshaft and a regular crankshaft?
How are they identified?
What's the advantage, if there is one?
Thanks,

Steering Gears, How do I distinguish different early from later gears?
I have a 1910 Touring, How do I tell the difference between the various configurations of gears? I want to change the steering column shaft and want to be sure to have the correct combination of gears & Shaft. I understand the early cars had a different pressure angle and perhaps different spacing b...

Re: Adjusting #4 ConRod on 3 dip pan?
Thanks guys for all the great advice, After much consternation I was finally able to get the cap off. I made a baffle plate as Chad suggested, stuffed rags in the voids and put 2 magnets on the baffle. I was finally able to get the 1st nut loose. I ended up cutting the end off a 9/16 box wrench to t...

Adjusting #4 ConRod on 3 dip pan?
My 1911 Torpedo has a knock, #4 Rod, What's the conventional wisdom, pull the engine so that it's easy to access or do it with the engine in the car? It looks like a real bear to do in the car!
Thanks,
