That whole cowl is not original. It should be flat from the hood to the door.

I think the question is about more than strictly the hole. I think the OP is wondering also about the formed area around the hole. Other than that, this appears to be a stock cowl.

Your period aftermarket radiator appears to be the style that does not necessarily flow well. Especially with age. Their indirect flow pattern makes them easy to clog and hard to flush. You may need the pump for that reason alone. As Susanne states, you won't really know till you try it.

One of the negatives of the AK front plate is that the distributor can't be removed without removing the entire front plate. Your current ammeter, (no pun intended), should be fine. The question is, why is your alternator pumping out such a high charge rate? Is your battery particularly discharged/dead, such that the regulator in the alternator is allowing such a high charge rate?

Re: Front spring mount and cross member

Since it's not entirely clear how the "Z" bracket is mounted in the first place, it's hard to say whether or not your added plate will help or not. Gotta be better than a rotted hunk of wood however. Why is your original motor mount gapped 1/4"(?) above the crossmember? Is the "Z" bracket held on wi...

I'm not sure why you want to do this. Is it just so that you can enter the car using the driver's side door? If so, it's not worth it. I'm a fairly big guy. I have a '26 Fordor. I have zero problems with the length of the steering column. Also, since I/we don't know you, and since we have no idea wh...

Found it. It’s the pan gasket right next to the starter. Dripping like crazy. I guess this summer I’m going to be pulling the engine and replacing the pan gasket. I tried to add a video but it’s doesn’t seem to want to load up.

Do some of you guys truly believe that changing to 10W-30 oil will cure oil consumption of 1 quart/20 miles? NO. Thinner oil will be worse for burning & leaking. 40wt chicken fat would actually minimize the usage. There has to be hole somewhere that's pumping oil out as he runs. One lost bendix cov...

I would guess that over a quart in 20 miles is too much oil to even burn. Park it somewhere, let it run at a high idle for a while, and look for puddles of oil to form on the ground... and of course, blue smoke. I'm thinking a loose bendix cover, or cracked engine pan, or leaking felt seal between t...

It should be noted that, without us and our labor of love and tremendous outlays of capital, there would be no Model T’s left for anyone to enjoy and take pleasure from. That is not a driving chassis, rolling chassis maybe. If when it froze it broke the head and pushed out the core plug it most likely has a cracked water jacket so the block is junk. Re: Vendor valves undersized, proper clearance?

Guides that are too tight will lead to sticking valves as the engine warms up. Too much guide clearance allows the valves to slide on the seats and allows oil consumption and noise. Too much exhaust valve guide clearance also allows the valve to run hotter. Most oil consumption occurs at intake val...

(BTW, I have never heard it referred to as a "suicide" front spring mount.)
