Re: Brake Band Replacement Help

Speedytinc, thanks. I’ll give it another try and pull the left end of the band as far back as I can. Perhaps there’s magic there. A Labor Day activity.

Re: Brake Band Replacement Help

Well, the hogshead is coming off. I'm now of the opinion that trying to change the brake band through the access cover is pretty near impossible. The handy band strap tool from Lang's solved the problem of getting the new band around the drum just fine. The show stopper now is that there is zero roo...

Re: Brake Band Replacement Help

Thanks everyone! I’ve ordered the band tool from Lang’s and will have a go this weekend.

Mark, yes, removing just the brake band was no challenge - the other bands remain in place.

Thanks

Mark - thanks, but I can’t understand your reply.

Speedytinc - Thanks, I just ordered that tool from Lang’s hoping it might help as you describe.

Brake Band Replacement Help

Hi folks, I need to replace just my brake band. I drive in an urban area with lots of stop signs and brake lights so the band suffers. With removable ears, can I replace the brake band without removing the others through the access door? When I try, the new band ends up riding over the reverse and j...

Re: What Have I Done?

Thanks Fellas, I apparently fried the voltage regulator. I finally got some garage time today and confirmed no charge showing on the ammeter with the engine at speed on magneto and lights off. I then swapped out the VR with a spare and, voila, the ammeter shows charging at speed. Ammeter functions n...

What Have I Done?

Hi Fellas,

So, I accidentally connected my 12v Battery Tender to my 6v T for a day. Now, my ammeter shows no charging, but the lights and starter work just fine. What did I damage - the voltage regulator or the generator? All else seems okay.

Thanks,

John

For All Eternity

I swear that at the end of my life, should my Maker decide to send me to that warmer place, I will spend all eternity seeking the Ford engineer who aligned the Bendix cover screws with the transmission pedal linkage for surely he occupies the darkest corner of that place.

Model T on Display in Oakland CA

Hi folks, Back in February, I came upon what appears to be a 1914 Model T Touring that was converted to a pickup on display at the Oakland Museum of California. It's the centerpiece of the Great Depression/Dust Bowl display. Great museum! 20200207_213304864_iOS.jpg That's a museum interactive device...

Rough on Magneto - Found This

Hi Folks, Everything new (engine and coils rebuilt, kevlar bands, oil, magneto terminal, etc.) with 500 miles/six months on my ‘25 RPU. Started running rough on magneto. Checking simple things first, I pulled the magneto terminal. F8CA3133-C3AB-46B3-B802-FBC58A6F9B54.jpeg I removed the little toupee...

Re: Steering Issue Has Me Stumped

Hi folks, Just to complete this post for the benefit of others... I found that the problem was a twisted steering shaft when I removed it again for a closer examination. The keyway at the steering arm should be 180 degrees out from the steering stop pin at the other end - it was not, by about 20 deg...

Source for Hard-to-Find Fasteners

Hi folks, I’ve found a great source for hard-to-find bolts and screws, both in steel or brass. Best of all, no minimum quantities when ordering. Quality is better than that sold at the big box stores. Plus, they ship fast, too. http://www.Boltdepot.com I am not associated with them in any way, just ...

Picture Perfect Perches

Gents, trying to figure out if my front spring perches are installed correctly on my 25 Roadster. Everything I read says to make sure the boss is on the backside. My boss is a short guy with a bad toupee and he aint nowhere around. So, a picture from the driver’s side front - correct or no? C66ABC6F...

Re: Steering Issue Has Me Stumped

Thanks, gents. Most helpful discussion.

With the drag link disconnected, the ball arms travel is limited by the steering gear - more to the right than the left. The problem seems to be there.

Steering Issue Has Me Stumped

Hi folks, Just got my '25 Roadster up and running, but I have a steering issue that I can't figure out. I've looked in the T-1 manual and searched the forum with no luck - would appreciate some assistance from the team. With the front end raised, wheels straight, I can only get a quarter turn to the...

WTB Top Iron 1925 Roadster

Hi Folks,

I’m missing one piece for the top on my ‘25 Roadster. I need the front right iron that connects to the passenger side windshield. Would consider the entire front iron - both sides - if need be.
