‘09-‘14 headlamp glass is round and nothing special. It’s held in the rim by a large snap ring. Find the diameter and most any mom and pop glass shop can cut some 1/8” glass

Re: Loss of drive - exact cause

I was going to say the same thing happened to me until I reread that your coupe died. I sheared those 8 rivets but the engine kept running. Just pressing down on the clutch pedal had no effect...major surgery time and commo with Big Flats Rivets was in order. I just considered it a failure due to so...

Re: Ruckstell adaptibility

Yeah; that is Art Morra. He adapted a Ruckstell to his ‘10 or ‘11 Hupp. The Hupp originally had a 4:1 ring/pinion and he’s using a 3:1. Said it runs and climbs real well.

Correct... the entire circular assembly - the mag field coil - is removed. The 16 wrapped coils stays with the circular iron unit.

Re: 1926 Ford Model T modification

Gut morgen Patrick, the 16 coils stay with the circular bracket. Simply remove the 4 bolts holding this unit - called the mag field coil. Yes, the magnets and ‘thimbles’ should be removed if you’re using slingers.

Re: 1926 Ford Model T modification

Jimmie,... I use unserviceable bendix springs as explained and you understood todrop the voltage to the starter motor to 7.5-8.3 volts. This saves the starter armature, ring gear and bendix drive from damage. But I also agree the 6 volt original design is excellent

Re: 1926 Ford Model T modification

Some will say you need a starter motor wired for 12 volts. Others will say you can use your original starter. If using original starter motor, I’d caution you to use a bendix spring above the starter hooked to the cable and starter terminal. I do.

Close up all 6 side windows and remove flowers from the bud vases. Either remove the ignition key or turn it to MAG.

Yep..I concur..make it a bronze cam gear. BUT, while you have the engine out of the frame; go ahead and tear it down and install a rewound field coil and recharge the magnets. Your roadster will run better. After all, its winter now and you could have it ready by Spring touring 😁

Good advice. Jack Daron’s techniques always the best. I would only advise that “blunt punch” be brass and not steel so as not to disfigure square carriage bolt holes.

They’re basically the same except the base is cast brass on early DU 4s and cast aluminum on later mags. I think both will fit.

Keep in mind the “radiator shield” (sheet metal panel covering the bottom radiator tank and through which the crank handle enters) is wider for a TT of 24-27 than for a Model T.

Re: roughest car you have ever restored?

My most difficult restoration was a 1907 REO Model B. Sorry, no pics. It was for the New Braunfels Conservation Society and was about 35% complete. Vic Groah in CA made the 4 wooden fenders, Gary Hoonesbeen turned 30X3 clincher rims into 28 x 3s and Johnson’s of OK RESPOKED THEM. Took me 10 years...

Very difficult to use on a 26-27. You’d have to remove the gas tank. And that’s the hard part. If you’re not going to have it Stynoskie judged, use pop rivets. I do
