There is a reason that new cars went to Voltmeters at the same time they went to Alternators.

The heavier current was probably part of it.

Tim, you will be hard pressed to find any people to agree with your opinion of the Prus head. Most people will find the 100 to 116 psi measurements, as they depend on what the measurement were with the original stock head. The Model T engine will run, without much power, with measurement as low as 3...

Steve, those parts that attach to the frame are just called irons in my 1928 Ford parts book.

The part I need has two rivets on each side to attach to the fender with them, and they are called brackets.

Re: A Loose Crankshaft Front Pulley

There was an Allen screw or bolt that had been pounded to pieces for some reason.

Evidently, the previous owner did not like it either.

Re: A Loose Crankshaft Front Pulley

I worked for about 25 years repairing Model Ts with a friend that had a 44 X 66 garage for his day jobs. He had turned the business over to his sons, but they had 18 different welders, and he could weld anything. He made several of those pulleys fit better by heating them cherry red with a torch he ...

A Loose Crankshaft Front Pulley

What is the best way to tighten a loose crankshaft front pulley? New ones are not being made and I have 6 that do not look worn, but all of them are loose. It appears the crankshaft may have been smoothed with a slight reduction in size. A new aluminum pulley fits tight, but the pin is right up agai...

Now they are selling Mountain bikes and Electric bikes with about the same size tires.

I'm not sure of the size, valve stem length, or center location.

Re: Radiator availability - Black Cars - Aug 2023

I was wrong again! Actually the 2020 Snyders Catalog offers both Brassworks round or flat tubes for the Model T and Walker radiators for the Hot Rod Model Ts. My friend's Model T radiator that he got in three days from Snyders was the original Brassworks type. I got a photo, no doubt about it now Ne...

Holly G Brass Float Availability

A friend has a couple Model G Holley carbs with the 'newer' composite floats.

The 'G' float is larger in diameter than the 'NH' that has brass floats available.

Some fuels seem to destroy those composite floats!

Does anyone sell a replacement brass 'G' larger diameter float?

Re: Need Help with My Head Lights

The ground terminal was only required if you were using a real Magneto for the sparks.

Those Magnetos require a ground to turn off the sparks and stop the engine.

Not many are in use anymore, but some switches still have the ground terminal.

Re: Update: BAND SPRINGS TOO SHORT?

The Kevlar Bands are a lot thicker when new and that requires the longer spring. They can be placed around a drum and compressed with a C Clamp to make them thinner before use. Normally new Kevlar bands require three adjustments after a very few miles and then they are good for a year or more with n...

Re: Ford model T 1909

The Model Year change was on 1 October in those early years. The Model Year was real short about 1918 and changed to 1 August for many years after that. What it is for Fords today may be the same or similar. Owners will often tell you they have a title that proves what years the T is, but there were...

Re: Shrinner Model T help

I don't recall the company name, but I still have their catalog. Rumor had it the 16 inch plastic wheels exploding caused the company to shut down. The small volume of air required to fill the tire tube and too much air pressure caused a disaster. They did come out with aluminum wheels later on. A f...

A Good Lead, thank you.

I got a phone call and was told Snyders has them.

They didn't have them on their website a week or two ago, I should have called and asked them.

So, I should have three sets delivered on Wednesday.

I will buy a couple taps, as well!

A Starter Ring Gear Problem

I have 4 New Starter Ring Gears that are all drilled and tapped for the original 14 X 24 TPI. I recently ordered a set of new brass screws for the magneto plates. The two packages were just labeled 3278 and are 1/4th X 24 Screws, not the correct 14 X 24 screws. Some people do not seem to know the di...

I just got a call that assured me HH was Hogs Head.

That is interesting!

I got the engine out of the T yesterday and am going back tomorrow to disect the transmission.

The two holes were not drilled in the back of the block.

I may get a photo tomorrow of the cast ring.

Engine Casting Mark VS Engine Serial Number

A 1924 I'm working on now has an Engine Serial Number that dates it to an April 29, 1924 Made Date. The numbers are not uniform in line or density which suggests a new engine block from the Ford Plant. The block also has an Engine Casting Circle that suggest a 10 - 10 - 26 Casting Date. Would that b...

Removal of an Engine With an Aluminum Head

Are aluminum heads strong enough to screw two bolts into the spark plug holes and use them to lift the engine from the Model T chassis?

This aluminum head is the older R. G. Reeder High Head.

Has anyone tried this arrangement with success?

There is more to that change than you realize. You are going from a double coil Magneto Coil to a single coil and a smooth Flywheel to a starter ring Flywheel. You also have to change out the wiring, add the battery box and a starter switch. I did that on my 1917 T Truck after I had the engine insta...
