I have a generator AK front plate that has a type RA head on it that has both manual and automatic advance. That head was used more on non ford 4cyl cars. As Jerry said parts are harder to come by, but Tom VanMeteren has some parts especially for the more common model T manual only heads. I was able...

Re: Atwater/Kent front plate cam gear
Thanks Jerry, do you know how the cam gear is held in the correct position, ie for/aft and rotational. There is no slot or pin hole in the gear.

Atwater/Kent front plate cam gear
Thanks to the forum I found that Tom VanMeeteren is able to supply cap, rotor and points for my AK type RA distributor. The cam gear that came with the unit has no slot or locating hole to position it correctly. The distributor sits slanted. I have attached a couple of pictures of the unit. I could ...

Atwater/Kent replacement rotor and cap
I have an Atwater/Kent front plate with a type RA distributor head. I am thinking about using this on my 19 roadster project, but before I do would like to know if there is a source of replacement rotors and caps for the Atwater/Kent units. My parts are in good shape, but would be nice to have spare...

Re: Model N 1906 in a Swiss museum
Mark, thanks for the promo for the early ford site. These pre T cars are a bit of a challenge, I have been working on my 08 SR for a few years now and it was a pretty complete car, it is just the little stuff that takes lots of time to track down. Amazing how many of these still survive hoping to fi...

Sorry to hear about the end of your carb work. Been running the OF on my 22 coupe for a few years now and still preforms great. Your help in setup really did the trick.

Re: LOOKING FOR LANG'S STARTER SWITCH UNIT # 5014RE
do check the cable and all contact surfaces. Ask me how I know after pulling starter, switches, etc tracking everything multiple times over the years and it almost always was contacts that were just dirty. It doesn't take much on a 6v system with the high amp draw to heat things up.

Re: LOOKING FOR LANG'S STARTER SWITCH UNIT # 5014RE
Adding to previous comments. With a 6v system if everything on the cable to the starter is not squeeky clean, the voltage drop is significant. You can check the switch and they do get a little unreliable. But make sure the contacts are good. Offer still stands, you can have the switch for the cost o...

Just wandered out to the barn and I do have one. VOM says it checks ok. This is just the switch, not the mounting bracket. Email me shipping info, I am a little hard of hearing, so email is best. I'll send it off to you and you can send me the shipping cost once I know what it is.

Re: 1916 Model T Trouble Shooting
Scott, had never thought about that. It seems more often than not, timer issues cause problems, guess that was why there were so many after market solutions, and why Ford tried so many variables. I think at this point if I were Taylor I would just get a new timer and shield and give it a whirl. Some...

From Bill's comments that strap was not there when Lenny bought the car. If Lenny had done that to hold it together, it means that it was together when he got the car. as an additional heads up, if you do get it to fire, I sure would not run it very long after 50 years of sitting. Shut it down, pull the head and look at the cylinders and also the inspection pan and look at the crank and rod bearings. At least clean them up and lube them before running too long, yo...

Look at what Scott just said. and check the rest of the timer wire connections, to make sure they clear everything. You might also want to check the timer to make sure it doesn't have an internal short on one of the contacts. It seems like this is a timer issue since even a real tired T engine will ...

Steve, It was not the Gray Ghost. Ron already had that as his driver/tour car. The center door I sold him actually did come from originally and he had given it to his neighbor in payment for helping building the big barn at his place. The sheet metal was good on the car and I re-wooded it and did a ...

A long number of years ago I remember the late great Ted Aschman had a hint about replacing the mounting blocks on the oil pan ears with springs. could have been running a non-T ignition/timing that required the spark advance control rod to be positioned such that the end of the bracket interfered with the advance? Just a guess.

For what it is worth, I have a 1908 model S with number D303 which according to Carl Pate's early ford research, makes it built in Canada. Don't know if this means the jugs were cast there. Les probably knows about that.
