Horn Works, BUT!!
I have a 6v motor horn made by E.A. Laboratories. It is Model F. It had not been run in 60 years. I took the top cap off and oiled the armature shaft top and bottom. I connected it to a new 6v battery, and it works. However, sometimes the armature won't turn. If I move it just slightly, it works. Th...

Re: Testing a horn
There have been postings that say a magneto horn's back piece looks like a tuna can which is what the bottom photo looks like. I have a battery horn, and it looks like the top photo.

Re: What a useful wrench
I have one, but assumed it was for spark plugs and head bolts. It is 9" long so I wondered if it actually was for head bolts because is that length long enough to tighten those bolts?

Re: Testing a horn
In addition to the horn that was in my coupe's trunk, there was one bolted to the bottom of the frame where the emergency brake handle is attached. It used one of the two bolts that attaches the brake handle to the frame. The horn looks like the first one in the photos posted above. It has a "thing"...

Re: Testing a horn
Steve, When you say "looking in to the horn", do you mean looking down the open end or looking in inside the horn with the cover removed. In a 2009 form Hugh Jass said, "The battery horns have an inner insulation composed of modified bitumen roofing tar. That's the way I've always identified them." ...

Re: Testing a horn
Mark, Did mean my horn is neither a battery nor a magneto horn? If so, what is it?
If I hook a magneto horn to a 6v, you said it would go clunk. Does that mean it would be damaged or just not reacting to the battery?

How Did the Model T Owners Do It?
I have watched a number of videos of coil restoration, and they show how the coils are adjusted using several different testing devices. " Back in the day", how did the typical Model T owner keep the coils adjusted without having these devices?

I just cleaned a old screw jack and plug wrench using a degreaser, wire brush and then gas. They clean up well, but there is rust. I want to paint both. Should I soak them in white vinegar? Any suggestions regarding primer and paint??

My horn is shorter than the two shown by Pep and the back is dome shaped. I took the dome off and found a Delco Remy stamp inside. There is also a 801 number at another location inside. I don't know how to enter photos yet, but will learn soon, I hope. I didn't know there were two types of horns, a ...

I have a 1927 coupe that I want to paint the inside area of the trunk, under the seat etc. There is no major corrosion. There is, of course, surface rust.
What type of surface preparation and what type of paint do you recommend?

For 1927 Ts the enclyclopedia says "Black wire wheels became standard on the closed cars late in the year but were optional until that time." I want to share something interesting, regarding the 1927 coupe that has been stored for 60 years. It has been moved five times during that time. The left front tire has been "completely" flat each time. I pumped it up for each move, and it stayed inflated for a couple months each time. Hard to unde...
