Re: CLASSIC COLLECTORS INS. LEAVES TEXAS

I have my motorcycles and car with Hagerty. I haven't had to file a claim but my dad did when he crashed his motorcycle and they were excellent.

Re: How many different types of wheels?

Holy mackerel! Okay, I can see that assembling a truly matched set could be a chore. I think I'll have to re-watch some Engels coach shop videos

How many different types of wheels?

How many different stock T wheels are there? Looking through videos and have counted at least three including the wire ones.

So the 3-speed box has neutral, as well?

3-speed transmission questions

I was watching Jay Leno's Garage and there was a Model T whose owner mentioned having added a Chicago 3-speed. I looked around and there appear to have been other manufacturers, as well. Are these expensive/hard to find? Also wondering how they work. I realize that the 3-speed box is in addition to ...

Re: Gas tank repair thoughts/ideas

I've brazed motorcycle gas tanks without incident more than once. If you wash it out with soap and water AND LEAVE THE CAP OFF I don't see what the big deal is. While there's still gasoline in the pores of the metal that will be released and burn when heated, it's the CONTAINMENT of the combustion t...

Re: transmission bands

Asking out of curiosity and ignorance: is it possible to buy Kevlar fabric and rivet it to your old bands? Of course if you can find the right product that's always best.

Re: New Here

My grandfather converted a model A into a pickup during the war but all he did with it was drive to his job at the shipyard. :) I saw a TT for sale in New Jersey but it wasn't running so even though it looked pretty good that's a "No" for me. I've had a LOT of old motorcycles and I always tell guys ...

Cut-off Touring limits what else you can do with that configuration
So that's what's going there? The body's cut off and the back of the cab is just the back of the seat? I don't mind it. I really like the idea of people using their ingenuity to create a functional result.

Get the Ford service manual and get aquainted with what makes a Model T tick.
My wife rolled her eyes when she saw me reading the factory repair manual for relaxation.

Ruckstell axle question

Some of the cars I'm seeing on line have the aftermarket 2-speed axle. Since my understanding that a stock T's too speed is around 30mph I assumed that the two additional speeds were make the car go faster. However I was watching a video where a guy was saying the additional speeds were for low for ...

Re: New Here

Thanks for the feedback. I definitely want a driver. My actual preference is for a car that's had a period (or period-looking) conversion to a truck. There seem to be plenty out there. I also don't want another restoration project. I've had enough old vehicles to know that even the car/motorcycle yo...

New Here

Hi, I joined this forum because I want a Model T and I want to know more about them before buying one. In the past I've just bought things on a whim and figured everything out later. That has yielded mixed results. I'm confident of my ability as an amateur mechanic but the idea of keeping a 100 year...
