Re: I bought a starter car.
I tow my car with an open trailer. I had a cover made for the 15 while it is being towed. So, it was handy that the 18 is close enough to the 15 that I can use the same cover for towing.
However, I could use the extra leg room of a 1911 Torpedo.- Fri Mar 15, 2024 9:24 am

My non starter 1915 has been parsnickery about starting in hot weather. Scott Conger suggested the problem may be due to the carburetor float set too high. Examination revealed that the float was in deed set to high. After making the correction, the car started right up. However it hasn't been hot e...

To answer the question as to weather to use a primer if using a brush or roller for the finish coat, the answer would be to follow the recommendations of the top coat. Generally bare metal needs a primer.

Re: Some you’ve seen, some you haven’t…..
The car on the right could be an aftermarket hardtop on a touring car. Perhaps 1913 or so. The angled front window corresponds with the curvature of the lower body after the firewall.

1670093733145-1.jpg These are all wonderful photos. The above photo caught my eye. First because the body appears to be made by someone with basic carpentry skills, and probably not made by a commercial body builder. Even at that, the framing of the cowl is more "sophisticated " than one might expe...

Thank you for the very detailed reply. I enjoyed reading about Albert. The Model T supplier "Lang's" puts out a calendar each year featuring Model T's. I think the first photo, with the fall leaves, and the photo hauling hay bales would make great submissions for the 2024 calendar.
Best Wishes.

So, Mr. A. Whiteman, tell us about your TT truck.
Mr. Whiteman recently posted the following photo in another thread.
I like your truck, and would like to know more about. it. So as to not high jack the original thread, perhaps you could tell us more about your fine truck?
Thanks.

Re: Seatbelt mounting examples
The MTFCA sells a video: 7-4 "Model T Safety "T" Tips", which covers installation of seat belts. You might see if you can borrow a copy. I watched the video along time ago. I think it may have only covered seat belt installation for the front seat, and not the back seat, but I don't remember for sur...

I have never seen anything like the "speedster" with the wings and propeller. For me, part of the charm of groups of photos like presented here is the element of mystery. In most cases we don't know who these folks are, but they, non the less, achieved a degree of immotaliry, in that 100 hundred yea...

If you search the forum for the thread on original tool kits started by Adam Corts on December 12, 2013, you will find much of the information you are looking for (if you read the entire thread). The 1915 tool roll was made of top material, and the flap no longer had the taper (according to Adam's p...

While your looking at your cooling system, pay close attention to the condition of your fan blades. I found out the hard way that metal fatigue of the blades can lead to a broken blade putting a hole in the radiator. If your fan needs replacing, the vendors sell replacements with ball bearing hubs.

The side curtains in picture 2 appear to have a horizontal seam dividing the "window" in half. It looks like one could roll up the top half of the "window" for ventilation. Nice.

I believe the oil level should be 1" below the bottom of the filler hole. I made a measuring device out of a bent section of coat hanger wire.

Possibly Halstead Street, in Chicago. Englewood is a neighborhood in Chicago. I wonder if West 1183 is the phone number. Looks like a pretty new car in 1926.

Re: Evidence of tire life
I think 8,000 to 10,000 miles seems pretty good, comparable to how long many tires lasted on 1950's cars when those cars were new. In another thread the following photo was posted. CC0F2AE5-D5B1-4DD3-9ACD-309CA579A475.jpeg.jpg These period tires were guaranteed for 5,000 miles. Presumably, lesser br...
