Re: 26-27 fordor steering column questions
I don't have a Fordor but I worked on a friend's 1926 Touring some time back. I noted that the column was binding in the bracket at the frame. A look in the Model T Parts Manual showed that there was a difference in the lower mounting bracket on a Fordor. The Fordor bracket sets the column at a stee...

Greetings Fellow Model T-er's!!! Hole in timing gear cover for camshaft seal. Most of them I have seen you were able to press in a lip seal. This one has a groove for the felt in the previous photo. I have seen felts (in the past) that the suppliers sell and they don't seem dense enough.

I tried searching on the Forum but have not found an answer to this question. I would like to restore the original Pruden front wheel felt grease seals on our T. Thanks to all for your comments. The Model T Winter Clinic in Kansas had a topic some time back about cams that Larry Young and Fred Huston put on. It was very informative. I run a small fan hub with a large crankshaft pulley on a c.1920 engine in our 1914. Have done so for about 25 years. Not my choice...the engine was built for a speedster and ended up in the 1914. Ruckstell Shift Lock and Internals Questions
A couple of Ruckstell Questions... 1. Can you use the 1926-1927 Ruckstell Shift Lock Assembly on an earlier "small drum" Ruckstell? I thought I had heard that the later style Shift Lock Assembly (P-158A) for a 1926-27 could be used on an earlier rear axle (1913-25) AND that it helped keep it from ju...

I like the set-up shown for lowering the rear of the car. As for the rear radius rod being weak...if you look at the way a radius rod is made, it seems to have some real strength in this area. There is a roughly 1/4" thick bar that is split to form the two legs or the radius rod. The radius rod tube...

In the last photo it looks to me like the ring gear teeth are rather pointed on the outside edge indicating improper gear mesh. There appears to be heavier damage in that area. That pitting (fretting) is probably caused by high tooth loads; due to improper gear mesh. Fretting occurs with repeated hi...
