Yes, Dan. It was Taglish that bought them. But now, as I said, all production is moving to China and only the most profitable lines will be produced. I did get this from a reliable source. They are selling the crankshaft production equipment in the US.

You didn't really need to remove the clutch spring. You can unbolt the 6 bolts and remove the driven plate (clutch plate) with the spring still attached. I know that it is too late to make a difference this time, but if you need to get into the clutch in the future you will know.

So if the Strobospark is using the 60 Hz line frequency then that relates to about 450 rpm of engine speed or about 11 mph assuming 30" diameter tires and 3.63 to 1 rear end ratio. Or with 50 Hz would be about 9 mph.

Guardian locking steering wheel

A friend of mine has a Guardian locking steering wheel that he would like to put on his T. He thinks that he doesn’t have part of it that attaches it to the column. Do any of you have any information on this wheel as to how it attaches or any other pertinent information? Thanks for anything I can pa...

Re: New Top Bows Discussion

Perry: Quik Poly was a wonderful product for repairing soft or holey wood. Unfortunately it is no longer available. The maker retired and refused to sell the formula and rights to anyone. Gone forever I’m afraid.

Re: Checking Toe end

For pulling to the left, I would check to see that the left wheel bearing is not too tight and dragging. I just had a wheel bearing get real hot on a car that I bought recently. Turned out the previous owner had installed the spindles on the wrong side and the left bearing had tightened up so tight ...

Re: Wheel bearing problem

Thanks for the suggestion John, but I think I will replace the hub. I will remember that for a future application though.

Hank: I will get some photos. Is there a particular area that I need to get details of?

Re: Wheel bearing problem

Thanks Hank. If it were .020 out I think I would give that a try. I don't think that technique would work too well though with it .054" oversize. Tim recommended you for a source of a replacement hub. I think that I will replace the hub. Do you have one to sell? If so what are the terms?

Re: Wheel bearing problem

Thanks for the recommendation Tim. I was going to ask if the new steel hubs that the vendors have are quality machined parts or not up to snuff reproductions like some are. Just wanting to know if it is worth the money for the new hub, or just look for a good original. I checked out my stash of whee...

Re: Wheel bearing problem

I have done some more measuring. Walter: Yes the old and new cups measure the same OD. I did mistype my measurements earlier. The actual ID and OD measurements are 2.767 and 2.713. I measured the hub inner diameter farther out where the grease seal rides and it measures 2.713. I guess that explains ...

Re: Wheel bearing problem

I see no sign of the hub being cracked. My suspicion is that when the bearing tightened up that the inner cup started spinning in the hub. The bearing then continued to tighten pressing the bearing tighter into the cup and expanding it as it wore the hub. That would explain why it took a lot of effo...

Re: Wheel bearing problem

Walter: No, I didn't misplace the decimal. I know it seems as if that would be the case. It did take quite a bit to get the old cup out, but the new cup drops in and you can visibly move it from side to side. I measured the bore with the T shaped bore gauge and caliper, and the cup OD with the calip...

Wheel bearing problem

Just got the engine in my car and got it on the road recently. I know I should have pulled the front wheels and cleaned and repacked the bearings before I ever took it on the road. But I didn't. Did about 100 mile drive the other day and all was well. I took a short drive a couple of days ago (about...

I find it interesting that in 1915 the price of a sedan is $100 more than a town car.

Hole goes up. It should have a grease cup when all together. Some people substitute a zerk for the grease cup.

Re: I'm So Frustrated

You say you have a vaporizer carburetor. It could be that the central plate has rusted through. That could explain why it ran fine and then it didn’t. Worth checking out.

Trade HC low head for HC high head

I have a high compression Reeder (Reader?) low head. This has the Ford script and “Made inUSA”. I would prefer to have a high compression high head ie. Z or Prus. I would trade straight up yours for mine. Anyone interested? It is cleaned up, painted, ready to install. I can take a picture to send if...

I don’t want the whole pack to come apart so I hold it with a pliers a ways from one end. Then hit the end with the torch.
