Re: FS 1915 Coupelet
According to the Bruce McCalley book, "Model T Ford - The Car That Changed the World", pp 208-209, Ford modified the trunk area very early in production. One can assume that the later 1915 production coupelet had the top hinged trunk. Therefore, if you are lucky enough to have the one with the rear ...

Re: FS 1915 Coupelet
My understanding is that the early 1915 models had the rear opening compartment, so you are correct. The engine casting number indicates it is August 1915. The assumption is improvements were introduced whenever possible, so it is either a late 1915 or very early 1916. Maybe the Ford records can sol...

My preference is the period correct after market wire wheels or disc wheels. Unless the wood spoked wheels have been rebuilt, the original ones become brittle and the wood will shrink with age, making them unsafe.

Re: WHO OWNS THIS SPEEDSTER????
I'm in agreement with Hank as well. Once you realize what it costs to buy all the special bits and pieces to make up your dream car, the dollars add up quickly. Overhead valve head, special wire wheels, special chassis parts, special bodywork, special radiator, etc., you start to understand the cost...

Re: Hay wagon to Speedster Project.
That is how my T speedster began its rebirth in 1968 central Texas. Many of the cotton farmers of the early years stripped their worn out T's down to the chassis, added a towing tongue and used them to haul cotton from the fields. At the time, I figured if they could make a trailer from a Model T th...

Got the Hayes wheels back from the powder coating people and installed. The runabout project is about as complete as any Model T project is ever complete!

Wayne, Glad to hear you are thinking of moving to the Austin area! The CenTex Tin Lizzies has a membership of 35 to 40 families. Like George, I too am one of the three remaining original members of the club. Many have passed or moved away but the club is still active. We meet at 7 pm, the third Tues...

After attempting a trial fit of the straps, pads and top, I have determined that my homemade bows are too long. I need to know the dimensions of all three bows. Thanks in advance.

Larry, Thank you for the quick reply, I really appreciate it. I'm trying to get as much accomplished before the temperature climbs over 100 degrees again. I have about 2" of tilt (gap) towards the rear, so that should be adequate. To keep the straps and pads aligned, I will go ahead and nail them to...

1924 Roadster Top
I'm installing the Classtique top kit on my '24 runabout and need the guidance of my fellow experts. Is the center strap and pad fastened to the bow or left without to facilitate folding the top down? I've been looking a videos and pictures and cannot find what I can determine one way or another. Al...

Willie was a very interesting character and had a wealth of knowledge about Model T's that he willingly shared. On a lighter note, Willie never would share information about just exactly how many Model T's he owned!

I appreciate the input, it always helps to have insight into what fellow T drivers have experienced. I really shouldn't be surprised that the transmission would have this problem and should expect to find something else that needs attention. I have worked on T's since I was a teenager know that a lo...

Trouble in River City!
As mentioned in a previous thread, I found a couple of brass screw heads in the drain plug while changing the oil and what I suspected has been confirmed. I pulled the starter and found one of the magnet retainer clips resting on the pan ledge next to the starter. So, the next logical step was to re...

Harry, Glad to help. This new message board has really made posting pictures painless. I really like the looks of the E&J headlights! They are very appropriate for our type of speedster. Do you have any of the history of the car and what it looked like prior to your restoration? Would love to see so...

Re: Major engine problem
Alan,
Thank you for the heads up! Before I go to extremes, I will do some further investigations. The engine is a complete unknown to me. This car sat in the back of an auto body repair shop for more than 30 years, lacking only the body to be reassembled. I will post the outcome later.
