Re: Fisher Body information

Ross -- When I was working on a '16 Coupelet project several years ago, I spent a week at the Benson Archives trying to chase down some details of the Coupelet bodies. Folks here on the Forum said that Fisher made the Coupelet and Sedan bodies for Ford at that time. I found scant information on the ...

Re: Experimental "Watts" Clutch

Richard G. -- "Experimental" was the term I used, but I don't recall RV calling it that. He just said he was trying a new material which he thought would work like the original Watts material. But he did say it was a new material and wanted feedback on it, so I thought that sounded like an experimen...

Re: Experimental "Watts" Clutch

Just for the record, I have had several Watts clutches in my cars with many thousands of miles and no problems. I still haven't opened up the tranny cover to see what's in there.

Experimental "Watts" Clutch

A while back, RV Anderson bought the Watts clutch business from Mr. Watts when he retired. RV told me that the person who was making the friction material for those clutch discs retired as well, so he had to find a substitute material. He made a few with that material and sold me one to try it. He a...

Re: Hyatt Sleeves

You might try measuring their thickness using a micrometer or caliper. It's tricky to do, since they usually aren't worn right at the edge so you can get a false reading. If some are thinner on one side, I'd look for better ones. The ones for the inner bearings probably are fine. The inner bearings ...

I take the windshield frames to the glass shop and let them remove the old glass, make new glass, and install it. That way if there's a mishap, they're the ones responsible for fixing it.

Re: Aux trans requirements?

For the radius rods, I cut them to length by removing part of the front end; the threaded parts are often no good anyway. Then I buy some 9/16" x 6" bolts, cut the heads off, bend them to fit, and weld them into the radius rods.

Re: Fuel Line

Yes, it's easy to bend the steel fuel line. Most folks use brake lines for that. Lang's has a brass fuel line available, which is what came on them and of course it's easily bendable.

Re: 1914 Brass Holley carb onto a 1923 engine

That carb has no provision for an in-cab choke. If your car has an electric starter, that would be inconvenient. Later G's had an additional arm on the choke lever for that. You could swap out the choke for a later one if need be. If you always use the Armstrong starter when the engine's cold, then ...

Re: Correct 1927 Spindle and arm

I have added a washer to the bottom of a spindle before and didn't have any trouble with it. But Scott's idea of putting it on the bushing before putting the bushing into the spindle seems like a better way to do it.

Richard -- Model T's are ridiculously simple compared with later cars. If you're capable of restoring 60's era cars, a Model T will be a piece of cake for you. Go for it and have fun.

Re: Wanted NOS QUADRANT

I have two NOS ones. Mine are painted, not plated, so you'd need to have them plated to be absolutely correct for a '15. I believe these are correct for a '16- or '17-up without the plating. They have no holes for the rivets. $50 each plus the postage, or pick up in NW Arkansas. 479-790-4229 **SOLD*...
