When the engine was out, I found the clutch/speed lever was very worn and was collapsing. I found that a previous owner had done a poor job with a repair weld. One thing that is not correct. The bolt that runs along the speed lever, is not aligned correctly. I took this issue as the plate the bolt runs on is very worn and needs to be rebuilt.

My kid's engine had what looks the same bands. They were highly oil soaked and two of them were basically falling apart. I was not sure if they were asbestos or not. I treated them with respect, bagged them up and tossed them in my trash (legal for a home owner here). Dry asbestos dust is harmful to...

Thanks George! I mic'd them last night. Two were almost identical at both 12 and 3. One pin measured about 0.00035" difference between 12 & 3.
Largest measurement recorded;
0.66715
0.6770
0.6777
Decided to have the shop open them up to 0.681"

Triple Gear Reaming Measurement
What is the correct reaming measurement for the triple gear bushing? As I recall it is 0.680".
I am at work right now, and my book is at home. The machine shop at work said they would ream (Sunnen hone) my new triple gear bushing. FYI, I have new triple gear pins.
Thanks

1899 Stanley. I'm mighty ignorant about these, but I suspect mostly original running gear with some modern parts added.

A bit OT, I got into some bad ethanol free this past month. I bought it from where I usually get ethanol free for the T. I topped off my snowblower when I got home, ran fine under a light load, and like crap as soon as I got a heavy load. Dumped in Seafoam and it ran good. Ran Seafoam for that entir...

Certain high carbon steels can do that, even if they're not exactly heat treated. The heat & work of drilling can cause the steel to harden. You'll most likely have to choose another spot to drill, since the spot you tried has now been work hardened. A very sharp drill will help. Maybe try a carbid...

Triple Gear Pin Wear
The transmission book states to replace the triple gear pins if they have 0.005 wear. The pins measured 0.677, 0.677, and 0.675.
What is your thought on the 0.675 pin. Replace or keep? If I replace should all 3 be replaced to have the same OD for new bushing reaming.
