Re: Anyone have an extrra ignition switch assembly?

Why wouldn't you just wire in some toggle switches until your switch assembly is returned? It is very easy to do.

Re: Gasoline Fumes

The risk of fire and or explosion is present if gasoline vapors are present. Some type of forced ventilation is needed. A good place to start would be with a boat dealer for some ideas. Doing something about ventilation would be an immediate priority for me. Or, from a different angle, I guess I don...

Re: Fuel pump

For about $15 you can buy a fuel pump for a Briggs and Stratton engine. It works with very low pressure as it is feeding a conventional float type carb. This pump is operated by pulses in the crankcase on the B&S motor. The pulse connection is made on the rocker cover on my 18 hp 2 cylinder engine. ...

Re: Restamping engine numbers

Be careful if you want to use a current 17 digit VIN format. There is a formula created check digit in all 17 character VIN numbers. That check digit exists so that no one can create a VIN number, as without the secret formula there is no way to know what that check digit needs to be. I am not aware...

Re: It’s official...

Just to say THANK YOU for your efforts. I really like the new site too. Like anything new, it takes some getting out the mode that "it's not like it used to be". Once past that the new format is easy to work with and much more intuitive. Thanks for all that work too.

Re: Mystery Cylinder Head Numbers

For what it's worth, when I worked for and engine machining company back in the 80's we would typically stamp the heads and other parts with a code that showed the amount machined from the part. This would let the next shop or us, if the parts ever came back, know how much material was already gone ...

Re: Lowering top on Depot Hack

I built a T hack body years ago and used it on a 1924 chassis. The plan I based my body on was purchased from Hudson Wagon Works. I dropped the height of the body from the dimensions on the plans to clear my garage door. The springs settled a little once the body was completed and on the frame givin...

Re: New Forum Feature and OFF Topic Forum created

Not that anyone reads it, but it might be helpful to update the Forum rules to include how a persons post should be assigned to a certain category. It seemed pretty vague and maybe an update would be useful? At least it could be referred to when a situation calls for it I suppose. Further, I would h...

Here's some facts. A corrosion inhibitor is critical for protection of the cooling system including things like cylinder blocks and heads, radiators, etc. Oil or other petroleum additives rot rubber components. They are not desirable for any automotive application. A 50/50 mix of permanent antifreez...
