Re: Old pics
Thanks for the pictures, Tom. On the first picture of the 1912, notice the placement of the horn bulb bracket. One side of the bracket is on the body side by the seat, the other side is on the fore-door. So although Ford referred to the fore-doors as detachable, they certainly did not intend for any...

Chris, I agree: one-piece firewall = top strap to windshield. Thomas, I disagree: Fore-doors were standard on 1912 production. Side lamps were discontinued on cars that were equipped with electric starter and generator. Interesting side note: on 1915 cars and later, the side curtains had an attachment strap that went around the side lamp. When the side lamps were discontinued on electric cars, Ford had to find another way t...

That "1911" on Hemmings is a 1912 that is missing the fore-doors. The open valve engine would be for a very early 1911. The serial number on this car should be somewhere in the 100,000 - 150,000 range.

This is Dan Killecut's 1913. It looks like the windshield brace on it was attached with a woodscrew from the inside.

Re: which wheels?
Dino, I agree with Jerry. I like the wire wheels, but a 21x4.4/5 wire wheel has too much tire for a brass era speedster. There are lots of options out there. Pasco, Hayes, Buffalo, Bud... These 30x3-1/2 Hayes demountables are surplus to my needs. 20211107_111638.jpg Let me know if you are interested...

different Ruckstell shift bracket
I have three different types of Ruckstell shift brackets. All are center shift. One has the splines and the rod crosses over the drive shaft. Ruckell shift lever.jpg Another was designed for the TT truck. The rod is on the driver side and goes straight back to the shift lock. This is possible becaus...

Re: WTB Original front seat bottom upholstery
Bill,
Michael Francis from Classtique can make you an upholstery kit with material that appears as distressed leather. It will be brand new, yet look old. Perfect for a survivor. It is 1000 times more durable than 100 + year old upholstery.
Just a thought.

Re: What am I missing here - Kingston Y 4-ball
A bowl drain valve fits into the threaded hole near the gas inlet. The float pictured looks like the correct style, but check that the pivot point is in the right place. It might just be camera angle, but the bowl body looks more elongated than other Kingston 4 ball carburetors.

Outstanding work on those rough fore-doors!
The original dash was drilled for the brackets.
If you choose to not have the fore-doors attached, I sincerely hope that you did not add a fourth door sill on the driver's side!
They look awesome!

James,
Painting with a broad brush, yes, 1913 is correct. That being said, there are always some examples of carry over with some brass hardware, lamps, etc. especially if the car was assembled at a branch location.
