Re: This car shocks me…

I will in the future, but for now, as long as it hasn’t been giving me any problems other that a zap here and there, it doesn't bother me too much. I have some other projects to work on that are a little higher on my list. I do need to install some front shackles, due to the old ones so worn, that t...

Re: Carburetor still acting up….

Thanks for the advice concerning the adjustments during certain times, I know some people have the adjustment rods through the firewall, that are very helpful, and I should probably invest in one! Concerning starting, I always jack up the rear wheel to start it. The transmission is just too much res...

Re: This car shocks me…

The coil box is a wooden unrestored original. It isn’t perfect, as a matter of fact, the battery post terminal didn’t even work at all last time I tried it. I used to run the car on battery, but got too lazy to charge up the lawnmower battery, plus the car runs not as well on battery, so I got a fri...

Re: Carburetor still acting up….

Thank you all for your help and suggestions! My brother is in our local auto tech course and he thinks he adjusted it correctly. I think I was not adjusting the flow enough to make much difference. He simply figured out how many turns it needs to be open to run smoothly. I was so used to running the...

Re: Carburetor still acting up….

For some reason, everyone I know seems to have mountains of Holley G carbs just lying around. Some older model t enthusiasts have given me more of them, but it’s just a pain to keep checking old carbs to just have them not work again. The rebuilt ones may be a good option!

Carburetor still acting up….

Hello all! For the past spring I shave seemingly tried everything to get my carburetor to smoothen out, with seemingly little success. The carb was cleaned out, dipped in Berryman, adjusted the idle screw and the flow adjustment, and nothing seems to help. It will start up alright, and just run real...

You’re probably right, It has been very humid lately also, plus the coil box is original, so that could be the culprit. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I have a strange problem that I hope you could help with. I have noticed that at certain times, my coil box switch will zap me quite hard, so recently, I have decided to just kick the switch off, but now I have noticed when I was checking wire tightness while the car was running, I got ...

Re: Holley G carburetor running poorly, and on half choke.

Thanks for all your help so far! I decided to take off the needle valve and see if there was any fuel in the upper bowl, and there wasn’t any! It seems the float is set too low, I will try to just bend the float lever up first to see if that fixes things. If that is unsuccessful, I may try to trim s...

Thanks for your help Scott, this is the float I got from langs https://www.modeltford.com/item/6201GBQ.aspx I don’t know if it is to large for displacement or not. Does anyone else use that modern float?

Re: Holley G carburetor running poorly, and on half choke.

Thank you Steve for that info. I do hope not to take the carb off again, but I may have to if the float is off. I always thought that the float should just stay level when the bowl is full, but I may need to read up more on a different position.

Re: Holley G carburetor running poorly, and on half choke.

I was taking in some of the reading, and I have noticed that if the idle tube must be fully submerged, and the float must be made in order to accommodate that, meaning I may need to adjust that. Before I did the clean out of the carb dip, it would often overflow the bowl, even though the bowl itself...

Hello all! It’s been quite a while since I’ve been on the forum, but I am just unsure where to turn next. I thought that some would go for a few hundred, not a few thousands! Even the shoddy looking 14 that went for over 2k! https://www.youtub...

Re: What name have you given your T

I wrote a narrative paper about a 1915 Model T back in High School, and in the story, his name was Henry.
The moment I first saw Henry I knew it just had to be Henry.
Henry was even in my yearbook.

2 Brass Model T's Amongst The Piles...

Hi Everyone! I was just watching a youtube video of a typical Model T, A, Hoard/Estate Sale, and was surprised to see not one, but 2 brass era cars, and one seeming to be a 1914 or older. Although the 14 seems to be the worst, if not a bit car I wonder how much they will fetch. I have no connection ...

Re: First Start of the Season Fuel Mixture Problems

I forgot to mention, my carb does not have any filter on the end any more, it used to have a manifold heater style filter, but broke off.

Could the fact that too much debris in the air intake is making me keep the choke on?

Thanks!

Re: First Start of the Season Fuel Mixture Problems

I think I will add more fuel to the tank to help with the bad gas. When I got this car up to running standards, I left virtually everything stock, meaning this car has the Holley G Carburetor, not the NH. Is there any difference in carburetors? Although the choke spring would be nice, it wouldn't so...

First Start of the Season Fuel Mixture Problems

Hello all! I decided it was finally time to see how well my 1916 T had endured Maine's long winter. First I began to do my usual start up procedure of checking/adding fluids, jacking up one of the rear wheels and pulling out the choke. Although It usually takes about 3-7 minutes of cranking and mess...

Door handle repair

Could this door handle be repaired? It is from my 1916 Model T touring. The two pieces appear to be soldered together. Although the handle itself is good the spring mechanism has gone bad, and every time I get a few feet down the road the door swings open. What can be done?
