No matter what, I was never able to get it tight enough to stop moving around without causing damage to the windshield frame. I tried a piece of rubber as well with ...

I just reread your post.

The brass cylinder will just pull off. It is just a cover. Inside you will find a nut and spring. You can loosen the nut to take pressure off the spring.

Here is a picture of mine with the cover off.

If the hinges are so stiff that you are afraid of damaging the frames, you can always take the hinges completely off of the frames. That way you can work the hinges by themselves one at a time.

Is the spring in place on the hand crank?

If the spring is missing or shoved into the bushing the ratchet pawl on the crank can hit or bounce off of the crank shaft pulley pin.

Easy enough to check.

Help With Spare Tire Carrier Identification

I have a question about a Ford “Y” type spare tire carrier that I have. I am trying to figure out if it is for a 30x3 1/2” rim or for a 21” rim. I know the easiest thing to do would be to try and mount a rim on it, but unfortunately I just got rid of my last set of demountables so I don’t have any r...

Took the pickup out for a 15 mile ride to blow the dust off from the winter.

For Sale: Low Head

Low Head, needs to be cleaned up. Has a freeze crack on top that I tried to show in the pictures. Looks like it would be an easy fix.

Re: Powder coating rims

I just had these wheels powder coated. I am very pleased at how they turned out.

It would be difficult to sandblast, prep, and paint the wheels for the price I paid to have them done.

Want To Trade: Speedster Drum Headlights

I picked these drum headlights up at Hershey about 10 years ago have been saving them for my speedster. I have changed my mind and I would be interested in trading them for a set of stock 1917-1925 T headlights. They are about 8.5" in diameter and are in good condition with no noticeable dents or cr...
