Re: How many spring leaves??

When I built my speedster I looked up springs in the encyclopedia. I found that the least amount of leaves used were 6 in the front and 6 on the rear for runabouts. I removed enough leaves so I had six in each. I figured if Ford thought that many would work for a runabout, then I figured that many w...

I would leave it alone.

It looks like there is wrapping tape under the read coating. If it's original, there is a good chance that it is cotton. It will be almost impossible to get it clean enough to get anything to stick to it since its been soaked in oil for many many years.

It will have an effect on the final torque value. However, if you place the extension 90 degrees to the head of the torque wrench it will not influence the final toque value.

Re: Hot Shot Batteries

In the two T’s I have that are crank start only, I use a small 12 volt, 12 ah sealed lead acid battery. They are usually around $25 on Amazon. I use them for running the could during startup and to run my turn signals. I normally only recharge them a few times a year and replace them every few years.

Re: Spokes - need collective wisdom

I always lean on the side of caution when it comes to wheels. I’d say rebuild the wheel with new spokes. The rest of the spokes might not have visible cracks, but they are just as old and have just as many miles on them. Here is another way to look at it. If you try to perform some type of repair an...

It’s definitely camshaft gear backlash you are hearing. Like Mark said it’s caused by the valve springs putting pressure on the tappets when they pass over the cam lobe.

Re: Scat Crankshafts

From what I understand, Scat normally produces T cranks in batches a few times per year. For the most part, each batch goes to filling the vendor back orders leaving just a few for stock inventory throughout the year.

For Sale: Rear Fenders for Truck or Trailer

Here is a pair of rear fenders that came with a bunch of TT parts. They would work good on an aftermarket style truck bed or even a homemade trailer. For Sale: Period Aftermarket Accessory Steering Stops

This is a set of cast iron stops that mount to a T front axle. I’m guessing the idea was to keep the spindles from going over center. There looks to be a manufacturer name cast in them but I can’t make it out. I’ve never seen another set like this before. Would make a really great addition to any Mo...

For Sale: Wards Riverside Piston Rings & Box

This is a really neat display piece. Original Wards Riverside Piston rings and box. The box is pretty beat up but displays well. There are rings inside on the box. Not sure if it’s a complete set. The original paper wrapping is very delicate so I didn’t pull them out. From what I can see, the rings ...
