Re: 1908 Detroit, Ford runabout?

To me looking at this picture of this elegant building, seems that Detroit was a well developed and sophisticated city before it became the center of automobile manufacturing.

Re: 26 Pickup bed wood

I agree with Larry. The boards on my '25 are 7/8" plus, clearly not 3/4 inch. Ash makes a nice pick up bed if you can find it. Southern yellow pine too. Red oak is not going to give an original look.

The VSCCA has hillclimbs for vintage cars at places ranging from Mt. Equinox VT, to one in PA, Hershey H.C. \

Roll bars are not required, just a lap belt and a fire extinguisher.

I bet they would let you run.

Re: Is Florida ethanol different?

at the end of the season I put in a few gallons of 100LL avgas into a near empty tank. Avgas does not go bad in the fuel lines and carb. I get 5 gallon jerry cans of it at the airport. In the spring, I just add new normal fuel from the regular unleaded pump.

Ananth: This is a great and very historical car, I look forward to seeing the restoration of it take place on these pages. This forum has almost boundless enthusiasm, knowledge and willingness to share.. You will likely need some parts from the USA too. When it is finished, the Ford Town Car should ...

Here IMG_20190228_124046_resized_20190228_124104734.jpg Here is an "adjustable wrench" from the tool kit of a 1950 MGTD. It is marked "made in England" but no other markings. This is what is sometimes called a "Ford Wrench" in general terms. Earlier British tool kits that I am familiar, MGTC, or Vin...

I used 3/16 safety glass for a windshield. Seemed close to the original size. The last thing a T needs is extra weight

On Rudge spline drive hubs, there is usually a small hole in the side, sometimes covered with a small screw.

I can tell you what the Chinese have done in the larger cities. They have clunker laws that ban old cars. In 2004 or so they deregistered any car over 10 years of age. I was lucky, I have a 1995 BMW, and it escaped the purge. Now, China has encouraged the use of electric cars by having a long waitin...

Re: Whats the Name of your T?

The model T is called "the machine" That is what my grandfather called his pick up. He went all the way back to the early days of cars, and that was what they were called, a "machine". Cecilia is what I call my Cessna 140 "cause she's breaking my heart, she's shaking my confidence daily"

I worked at a factory in China 20 years ago for a winter. Each day, two medium sized hogs would arrive on the backs of motorcycles. Then, the cooks spent all morning preparing lunch. The 3000 workers got two meals a day. Noontime and six PM. Between the massive drum of white rice, some boiled vegeta...

I have exactly the same 4" Bahco Crecent wrench for pocket carry. I got mine in Sweden in 1975 when I was working on a farm for the summer. The term "Crecent wrench" is the proper term for this pattern of spanner, as the Crecent company first produced them. The British and commonwealth call them a "...

Re: Reenact father's 1925 Model T trip

Sounds like a splendid adventure. Any well sorted T should be able to make a 350 mile trip on old roads. Speeds need to be kept to 30-35mph. Are you going to camp out in the same spot? If you have someone following with a trailer Etc. that is kind of cheating, however, they could be hauling a big ca...

Re: My first exposure to a Model T

Before I was ten I had collected a number of Model T parts. Back in the 60's and early '70s, there were always old Fords to be found in the woods, behind sheds, and in the overgrown perimeter of abandoned farms. My friends and I would venture out sometimes for days with tools and a wheelbarrow to sa...

The dummy in the trunk is dressed in some sort of 1950's scanty outfit, likely part of a car show display. The owner may be from Providence, and those folks are used to having bodies in the trunk. The Model T is shown at its first car show, a casual local event. Won "best in Pre-War".
