Kind of a dumb question, but when did Garage become a term? In the day of the horse there was livery stables, and black smith shops. Just a thought,

Another thing to think about, if that car has been sitting 20-30 years you should probably replace the bands in the transmission. They break down with time, it'll come apart and block the oil galley. You won't feel or hear it until it's too late, then its bearings. That sure is a good looking car,

I'm thinking item 2 is a hand operated binder, after you went through with the scythe you'd use the rake to get some together then use the other half with the curved arms to hold it together to bit tied. Just a guess. I dont think automatic binders were available in 1879.

Re: Hayes wheels - what would you do?
John, FYI, Oshkosh Plating Technologies zinc coated 5 rims for me for $125, about a year ago. Their located close to the EAA grounds, I sandblasted them before I took them in. Its easier to change tires, you dont have to worry about scratching the rims with the irons.

Mike thanks for posting the great pictures, I'm glad you had a good time, Sorry Dan, the pan jig was not for sale. Jim Rodell Sr brought it as a working display. We straightened 3 pans that day, it amazes me how stout those pans are. Keith, you missed a great lunch, chili and French onion soup with ...

Re: Dairyland Tin Lizzie's Model T University
Looks like good weather to hang out in a bodyshop tomorrow. I still have some cleaning up to do yet. If you can make it bring any available oil pans along, Jim Rodell Sr is bringing his K R Wilson pan jig so people can check pans. Itll be a good day to talk Ts.

Re: F100 transmissions
I have been doing some homework with the #s I have. Turns out what I have is from a 64' with a 128" wheelbase. I have to find out if I have a wide or close ratio yet. We have a few older yards around so I'll have to start looking,

F100 transmissions
I have a '58 ford pickup I'm trying to get back on the road. It has a 312 y block and a 3 spd topload with a Hurst shifter. The input bearing is growling pretty bad and the hardening is worn off the countershaft. From what I gather the toploads didn't come out until '63. It has the big input shaft, ...

Pull the cam and check it between two dead centers on a lathe. Use a dial indicator on the middle bearing surface. I had one sound just like that, it was bent about 25 thou in the center

Re: What are these holes in the cylinder wall of a Ford Special motor?

The theory was it would use the velocity of the intake stroke to get a little more charge in the cylinder. Might have...
