My hinges did the same thing. The problem was that the "bumps" on the one half had worn, and no longer provided enough resistance to movement. They would slip out of the "dimples" of the other half. Picture #13 is on the wall in Mark Chaffin's shop (an original, I think) and is identified as "Grand Avenue, Buena Park Calif." That street only runs a couple of blocks and the north end is right at Knott's Berry Farm's main entrance.

I'm not accusing anyone of anything, but just want to mention that heat will pop the glue loose in those bulb sockets real quick; so if you're cleaning the base with a wire-wheel, take it real easy.....

Helicoil is a "spring" type insert, open between the "threads". Thread-sert is a solid bushing, and while more expensive, will make a permanent repair. Check out "Time-Sert". Pricey but superior to Heli-coil in my opinion. Just the thing for stripped threads at the universal ball cap in the oil pan.

No-rosion is good and their website has technical articles. Use reverse-osmosis (RO) purified water rather than distilled, unless you are using at least 50% coolant.

FYI the dash tags were nickel plated. They were issued (without license plates) and were always 2" round before 1914. I have the original matching tag for my 1914 plates.

I put heavy rods and cast iron pistons back in my '14. Straight-cut timing gears, too. Oh, and my valve stems are not adjustable. Round tube radiator. My '14 is a '14! It's my idea of fun.

There's a product called "Brite Boy" that is the best thing I've found for brown brass. Available at janitorial supply stores. Contains ammonia, so I get it clean with Brite Boy and then maintain the shine with other products. Good luck.

The ad copy posted above specifies that the regulator is set for "two ounces" pressure, which is more in line with my own experience. Other sources refer to two or three "inches of water column" pressure.

The dash shield has a cut out (or notch) for the end of the horn to stick through above the driver's toeboard. That ought to locate it for you.

A French screw is a brass oval head screw with a polished head. Different size finish washers for different size screws. Ford used some oddball sizes like #5; you can find them on the internet.
