Re: battery box adapter
>>>For 12 volts you need to wire the batteries in SERIES.<<< Yeah, that's what I meant to write. I have to think about the difference every time. Before I glued the two boards together that form the adapter, I dadoed a channel inside so the wires can run from an existing hole in the running board to...

battery box adapter
One of my pandemic projects was putting on the battery box that came with the car. When the car came to me, there was only one bolt holding it on. There were 4 holes in the battery box and 9 holes in the running board and only one hole would match up at a time! I made an adapter out of mahogany so I...

Re: This doesn't look right to me.
Thanks for the replies - I stuck my hand in the sample I drew yesterday and couldn't feel any oil on my skin so that's a load off. I'm surprised this happen just over the summer. I didn't expect that to happen in 3 or 4 months. Yeah, I intend to drive it more next summer. There are still a few thing...

This doesn't look right to me.
So I got the T running this summer. I put between 5 and 10 miles on it - easy driving up and down my street. While emptying the cooling system to put the car to bed for the winter, I see the coolant water (it was just water) is a reddish brown, the color of a fine holiday cider. It is so dirty I tho...

Have you seen oilers like this lately?
My car came with two of these and I'd like to get two more. They have a brass base with a pot metal flip top. Seems to me a more civilized way to oil the kingpins and the tie rods. When I try to get oil in a verticle oiler hole, more oil ends up outside than in the joint. Do you have a couple you'd ...

Yeah, I think bending the handles properly is an important step to not scraping your knuckles on something all the time.

Another way to install a left hand Ruckstell shifter by Tom Carnegie
Hello again - Tom wrote an article for his club's news letter which, I believe, I came across on this forum. I thought Tom had an elegant solution so I downloaded the article. I ended up buying an intact parking brake lever and apparatus on Ebay from a 1923 Model T and so far, I'm pleased with how t...

Re: Any ideas about removing a stubborn wheel key?
The wheel will spin around the axle... Isn't that what's supposed to happen? It seems to me that the shape of the axle or inside of wheel will not change if the key is removed. Tightening the axle nut will put the wheel where it needs to be on the axle to hold everything together - isn't that right...

Re: Any ideas about removing a stubborn wheel key?
Thanks for all the info. I used a 250 grit diamond sharpening stone to shave a bit off the sides of the keys and got a snug fit that I can still dislodge with my fingers. So anyway, now that the keys are out, I can push the carcass around by myself without impedance. And if Sears hasn't closed its d...

Re: Any ideas about removing a stubborn wheel key?
Just so I'm clear, those keys should slide out with finger pressure, yes? This was as if it might have been pressed in there.

Re: Any ideas about removing a stubborn wheel key?
Thanks fellas - got it out this morning. Let it soak with Aero Kroil overnight and hit it some more with my now stubby center punch and a 5 lb sledge. No rust involved. It's a new axle on a new Ruckstel. That's not right, is it? Shouldn't those keys slide out of the channel with your fingers? By the...

Any ideas about removing a stubborn wheel key?
A tap on a punch with a hammer brought the right key out, no problem. But the left wheel key won't move. I tried putting some heat to the axle but I'm probably heating up the key as well. I'm starting to deform the exposed face of the key and I broke my 1/4" punch in two with a 5 lbs. sledge. Still,...

...Just make sure yer still is well-hid... Re: OT USPS rate hikes
In 2006, a Republican congress passed a law that requires the Post Office to fund retirement benefits on a 75 year horizon. So the Post Office is putting away retirement money for people who haven't been born yet. The move was unprecedented. This causes the Post Office to start every fiscal year $5 ...
