Re: Open trailering poll
We use three different trailers. Two enclosed and one open. The open is a tiltable, double-axle with brakes. And is older than me! Satisfied with it and if I only could have one I wouldn't mind having an open one, unless I was moving around T's during the winter (road salt) Pros: - much easier to mo...

Re: Headlight rim removal
I haven't done a lot of headlights, but here was my very simple method. Remove the headlights from the car. Place a neoprene mat on the floor (I used one of those mats you use to protect your fenders while leaning into the engine bay of your muscle car). Put the headlight face down on the mat. Use y...

So perhaps next year?...... Also, here is some drone footage on Facebook from the tour stop at Pleasant View Bakery in Am...

Re: New Philadelphia Annual Tour this weekend
Wow...14 Ts hauled away on trouble (a.k.a. vulture) trailers! Gotta be a record. Otherwise at least they had great weather. The weather was truly awesome this year. In regards to the 14 T's, if I understood the info correctly, four of those 14 just ran out of gas. And I'm not sure if the other 10 h...

Re: Old 16mm Movies of MTFCI Events
Median household income in 1971: $7,626 in 2017: $60,145 So if you said a non-brass T was $2,000 in 1971, it represented 26% of the median household income for one year. That would equate to a cost of $15,773, today. A non-brass runner could be had for much less than that today. If you use a brass T...

Re: Old 16mm Movies of MTFCI Events
FYI, I've added some videos from 1972, 1976, and 1978, including some more Montana Endurance Race and some AACA events that Clem Englmann had filmed. RE: brass car costs. I took a look at a few issues of the Model T Times from 1971. Here are some For Sale prices from the time: 1911 Torpedo, fully re...

Re: Old 16mm Movies of MTFCI Events
I have made a few additions from 1971 to the Youtube channel, including some footage of what I assume is the Montana 500 from that year. I'll be posting additional videos throughout the day. And more will be on the horizon. Your best bet is to "Subscribe" to the Youtube Channel so that you get notif...

Old 16mm Movies of MTFCI Events
All: I've created a Youtube channel for the Midwest Chapter of the MTFCI for the uploading of old home movies taken by chapter members. The first batch of videos is now complete and includes one short reel of a 1955 parade, and several club events form 1960, including the annual International tour. ...

The MTFCI Midwest Chapter lost a long time member, John Gross. For those of you who have enjoyed the ice cream social on the MTFCI Annual Tours, John was a long-time sponsor of that event. Here is some of the obituary John F. Gross, age 98, former many year resident of Des Plaines passed away on Tue...

Re: Anti Semitic History Controversy
I was poking a bit more around the internet and, while I can find mentions of the "Detroit Model T Club" here and there, they aren't listed as a Chapter of either the MTFCA or MTFCI on those organizations' websites. But I know that sometimes those things don't get updated. Does anyone know if they a...

Those interested can read the article on line here http://www.deadlinedetroit.com/articles/21513/100_years_later_dearborn_confronts_the_hate_of_hometown_hero_henry_ford Like most here, I've heard about Ford's anti-semitism and it isn't really disputed. I would go out on a limb and suggest that most members would agree with you IF we came across a true Rip Van Winkle car. However, what are really the odds of that happening anymore? And I mean a completely untouched car that maybe needs a new set of tires and a once-over of the internals to get up a...

Re: Slightly OT - I cannot login to MTFCA using Google Chrome
I had the exact same problem as the OP and had to clear all my cookies/cache to get it to let me log in again.
The remaining problem is that I still have to click "login" even though I told Chrome to remember my login info for site.

Re: Dan Killecut - Anybody Heard From Him?
Near the beginning of each topic title, or subject title, is a little symbol, icon, whatever, that looks like a little picture of a red piece of paper with the upper right hand corner folded over, or "dogeared". So what does THAT mean? If you click on the little red piece of paper it takes you auto...

If you're looking for a good series to watch that contains a Model T repeatedly thoughout I'd recommend Peaky Blinders (on Netflix), about a gypsy family-run gang in the underbelly of London. Very violent, very rated R. But very entertaining. As they're working class boys, the T fits. See this webpa...

Re: phpBB Forum options question - "Mark Read"
Yes, I saw that. I was more interested in changing color on just a particular topic. Thinking through it more, the "ignore topic" option would probably be more helpful. That way if a topic about, say, which grade oil is best is no longer worth reading, you could hit "ignore topic" and then it will b...

Re: phpBB Forum options question - "Mark Read"
Another option would be an "ingore topic" option. So that if I'm not interested in reading a post about Chickasha, I can "ignore" the topic and it will never be turned red on the main page even if there are new posts in the topic.

phpBB Forum options question - "Mark Read"
Chris, I'm sure you've got a ton on your plate getting this thing up and running. Here's one for the nice-to-have list. Does phpBB have an option for a button or checkbox or some way to mark a topic as "read" without having to go into it. I know that when I log on, my eyes go straight to the topics ...

Re: Why a User Name?
A good reason to use a user name different from your real name is that it keeps you at least one step removed from someone doing a Google Search on your name. The most obvious example is for a current or potential employer . If they google your name and find that you are posting to a Model T Forum 2...
