Mine measures 11 1/4" for the longest tube on the No.2 Aermore. Next smaller is 9", next smaller is 7 3/4" and smallest is 5 3/4"
Hope this helps.

Re: Accessory Brake (exterior drum) band replacement
Hello Speedytinc & SurfCityGene - With respect to JB Weld to bind the lining to the brake band. It works great. I did this back in 2009 and the surface stayed bonded without failure. Please also note that the bands are riveted as well. So it's belt and suspender style. Basically the JB Weld (standar...

Re: Accessory Brake (exterior drum) band replacement
Hello Shannon - Here is a photo of the mounting side of my LOCKWOOD or LOCK GOOD accessory brakes. The casting is sufficiently blurry that It is impossible to tell which of those brand names is correct. Maybe someone else has a set with a clear casting that shows if the letter is a "W" or a "G". I'v...

Hey Scott - Um..... yeah .085 is pretty close to .083 -- silly me, I didn't see the sheet material - only the strip material.

Re: Accessory Brake (exterior drum) band replacement
Transmission bands are a good idea -- but alas, they are 2" too short at only 24" in length. The brake band is 26". Also the thickness of the transmission band is .0747 (14 gauge steel). The broken brake band material looks to be about .0825 or nearly 13 gauge. I'm sure the thinner material would wo...

Accessory Brake (exterior drum) band replacement
A week or so ago, our 1914 T touring made a funny noise while riding around town. I couldn't place the noise, so I didn't worry about it. Inspecting the rear wheel last evening, I see that the band on our accessory brakes (LOCKWOOD or LOCK GOOD brand) has snapped in two. These brakes have served us ...

Re: FJ - Why Bill Bennett Should Receive Your Thanks
Thank you Bill - The meet was great. Do it again. Please. I brought my Dad, my wife, my sister & her husband. We got to see many of our HCCA & MTFCA friends. For many of us, this was our first big outing since getting Covid vaccinations. We bought a bunch of stuff and had a great time.

Top Bow Video - Not Model T, but informative
I just watched a video on fitting top bows on horse buggies on the "Engels Coach Shop" YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqTQFsAguoA&t=15s It gives great insight into the techniques used to adjust wooden top bows to fit bow sockets and how to position bows one to another. It also show...

Re: Nice Brass Windshield
Hello Tourabout - Yes, the windshield position locking system looks very much like the maybe a Troy windshield that I think I have. I also notice that the way the glass channel between the windshield halve connects to the sides of the frame is very similar. On my windshield there are two screws that...

Re: Nice Brass Windshield
Hello Dan - Nope, our frame is nickel plated brass - not wood. There are wood plugs in the brass side frames where the hinge attaches - not anywhere else. The defining characteristic that leads me to believe it is a TROY is the construction of the multi-position hinge lock mechanism. It is two disks...

Re: Nice Brass Windshield
Hello Pete Eastwood - I am very curious as to how you are able to identify the windshield as a TROY windshield. In addition to our 1914 T, I have a 1912 MICHIGAN automobile with an unmarked windshield that I believe is a TROY. I would really like to positively identify it. Can you help? Thanks Craig...

Re: How to fix a split top bow socket?
Hello R.V. - Hose clamps are a great idea, instead of a jig. I intend to glass bead blast the inside as best I can. The rust converter is also a very good idea. I guess your advice is to NOT apply any heat that would be necessary for brazing and simply use mechanical repair techniques. Rich - The pa...

How to fix a split top bow socket?
If the socket was for our 1914 T touring, this would be easy - I'd probably look for a donor socket in decent shape. But that's not the situation. The problem socket belongs to our family's 1912 Michigan. Parts of any sort are made of unobtainium. The split in the socket is probably because at some ...

Demountable Rims - When were they standard equipment?
I recently had a question come up from a colleague that stumped me. How early did Ford supply T's with demountable rims? The McCalley book indicates that the period 1919 through 1924 there were several demountable rim set-ups available, but were some stock or were they all options or dealer equipped...

Re: Coolant Recommendation
This is slightly off topic, but relevant -- Regarding green coolant (whatever the brand may be) tarnishing brass radiators..... that's a fact. The best partial solution for the problem that I've found has been a 2" O-ring in the filler neck. Screw the cap in tight against the O-ring and the thermo-b...

Re: Reenact father's 1925 Model T trip
It sounds like a great adventure. You need to map it carefully. Highway 395 is a very FAST corridor on the East side of the Sierras. The issue will be NOT having your slow moving vehicle squished by a North bound L.A. speed demon -- of which there are many. This time of year on week ends there is, i...
