Looks like a 1924 to me. Tall radiator, steel firewall, later front spring/motor mount. Frame looks to be a 1919 or 1920 and 1926-27 engine as mentioned. New spokes in wheels and New tires are a plus. Good start on a complete chassis for what ever body you put on it, just not 1916.

Thanks Kim, only 54 total spaces for a pre-war swap meet that's what I call a major downsize! The Auburn Swap Meet in June sounds like the meet to go to. I'll call the race track and get a space for the swap meet and see what happens on May 4th.

Later car back dated with 1915 radiator, hood, fenders etc. Would be easy to change back. Either way looks like it's set up for serious touring. You couldn't build it for that even if you started with a nice unrestored car you got for free.

The inner ball bearing cone on the spindle can with care, be cut off the spindle with a welders torch. I've done this several times with rusted bearing cones without damage to the spindle itself.

You might want to go to a motorcycle salvage place. Ask to see their stop light switches.
These operate by a pulling motion, not by compressing to actuate the switch. They will work with any pedal that's depressed, just mount the switch behind the brake pedal.

The Penny Farthing is a British used name, in the U.S. they were commonly called a Ordinary, the technical name would be a Velocipede, if pedaled by a fixed crank and pedals on the front hub.

I'm looking for a nice set of side lights and also a nice tail light for a 1916. These would have steel rims and have the small vent holes around the base of the chimney. The reflector inside is round unlike the later lights that have a more square shaped reflector.

I had a friend, now deceased that had a uncle who worked at a Ford dealer back in 1918. He told my friend that when new model T's came in they sounded like sewing machines. He also said six month's later those same model T's sounded like a bucket of bolts.

I just saw a news report yesterday that Lake Tulare is increasing in size instead of receding. The flooding this year caused the swap meet to be canceled. This winter maybe just as bad as last winter, so it's hard to say. Perhaps someone in that area can shed some light on next years event.

Richard, I whatever size or number strand of cable you use make sure it is aircraft rated or arcraft quality and not from the local hardware store or home improvement center. Your life and others are more valuable than saving a few bucks on the cost of cable!

This piece is in great shape. The hole on the inside was punched through so no metal was removed. The metal can be tapped back into place and welded closed. Here are photos, someone long ago punched a hole for a battery cable in the inside as seen in the photos. Missing one 3/8" thick board on the bottom (easily replaced). As mentioned before the two hinge halves on the lid are broken but shouldn't be a big problem to fabricate new ones.

The Tourabout would be an ideal setup. Easily converted to a two passenger Runabout or back to a four passenger Tourabout depending on your needs at the time. Two different cars in one!

Larry, not sure what you're looking at. The switch has a very little chip that can easily be repaired. Other than that it's just dirty.
