Exhaust pipes etc do not run hot on low grade fuel, up the octane, compression ratio, overhead valve....., you are creating heat or power (typical KW conversion). The coolant temp does not raise. Look how your modern car creates power.

Well they do prevent heat causing your floor boards to rattle/warp/crack/etc! Wrapping the exhaust pipe will only cause them to rot out at a very fast rate as it makes them sweat with condensation from the outside. 4,000 degree Rockwool in-between is just an added bonus. REO yes....., Ford no. You must anneal the rounded brass or you will kink it. You think Henry Ford would have added extra steps in that? Flat can be slapped with a mallet with a light edge support.

Larry is correct..., the rounded trim is actual for boats. I have to make it on a sheet metal brake in the past or use a power roller with 3/4" flat dies..., works either way.

So after all the rough in with a rasp file, I come back with a conventional double bastard and then down to a single bastard file. Then I start with 80 grit, 120 grit, 240 grit, 320 grit all dry. The key in a good job is quality material, T6061 billet, good files and rasp. When ever you are working any soft material use canners wax by means of rubbing your file. They never plug and clean up easy. Watch your pressure when cutting on the strokes. I use lay out dye for a good contrast. IMG_5749...

Well finally finished up the truing of the billet on a vertical belt sander using 40 grit. I drill completely thru the stanchions and then TIG up the holes for a full depth thread.., old school. I have always set timing by a vacuum to optimize fuel efficiency. Simple with a vacuum port, set to the highest HG psi and back off 1 psi at idle. Why not just remove the steering column, get a donor upper gear case with the original 5 to 1 and do it correctly. Your spark rod and throttle rods are probably worn out and replace them too!
