I've been looking, without success, for the compression boost from the domed pistons offered by the vendors. From stock 4 to 1 to ???

Anyone know or have a feel for it?

My query came from basic curiosity. Years ago I added a Fronty T head to my speedster, when using flat top pistons simply changing the head was a noted improvement. When the crank broke (no great surprise) I went with a shortened A crank (1/4 more stroke) and domed pistons. That combination really woke up the engine but it was changing two things...

Hello,
I have a 1921 coupe that came with a rear tire cover that said: Another Ford sold by F.P. Behlow
Watersmeet, Mich. Has anyone ever heard of an F.P. Behlow or have any knowledge of a ford dealership in watersmeel. It is pretty far up north, Ive been there once just to get a sign picture but there was no sort of historical society to ask.

So it wasn’t custom, benson ford had one mention of a waterskiet dealership in their archives. The only mention of the dealership is from the 1924 ledger and reads “canceled 8/18/1925. Dealer's request. Unable to finance. Unfair practices.” This was in reference to Mr. Behlows watersmeet dealership as well so everything seems to line up.

Was the magneto coil wrap cotton or linen? Has anyone tried wrapping their windings with 100% lite weight cotton twill?
Comes in 1/2 too.

If you will visit a local motor shop they can hook you up with the correct tape and if you ask nice will dip your coil for price.
When I was rebuilding coils it cost me $10,00 a coil for dip and bake. That was on the 80’s. I still find my coils in engines sent to me for rebuilding.

I decided that I wanted to give LED lights a try. I purchased 5-30 volts non-polarized bulbs. When they arrived I installed the first bulb and it light up nicely, but when I installed both neither worked. I tried again with one LED and one incandescent and it worked. If you need to shim the axles, the shims are tapered to fit the end of the axle inside the hub. They can be ordered from any of the vendors. Your hubs might fit on without any shims. I don't recognize the big car either, but I do like it! And the T is clearly a 1914 style, which was actually manufactured for well over a year and a half! Due to weakness in the 1913 style, they began production by July of 1913. And then due to production delays of the new 1915 style front cowl, continued clear into April of 1915!

How difficult should it be to roll up the door glass? I have installed new safety glass in the drivers side door, and it is very, very hard to roll up. The glass is very tight in the channel.

Depends upon the model transmission.
If it is the six speed version, actually a three speed progressive shift, be very careful. Do not try to force it because you can't!
I had one many years ago, that wasn't very rusty inside, and never did get it loose. There is a big sliding gear with a couple of dog clutches that takes very little rust inside...

Now that my car has some new tires I plan on taking her out a but more. Work is only 12 miles away so I see that happening often in 2023 but I would like to plan on some longer trips than 24 miles round trip. I am sure many of you have great stories and I would love to hear about them.

I have both and on paper the A wins hands down.....it's faster, holds the road better, bigger etc. etc. That said I find much more joy in driving my Model T. For me I think it's the simplicity, history, and the fun to drive 2 speed. Do not get me wrong I love my A as well but if I could only keep one the T would be the keeper.

The box says it’s for 15-17 model t. I’m assuming it’s a regulator for mag lights since it comes with two new bulbs. They are 6-8 volt. The instructions are so bug eaten and rotten they just crumble. I have no idea where it would mount, it comes with one bolt. Anyone ever seen them before?

They describe it as a current regulator . That suggests a choke , or inductor, which can be used to regulate mag output at higher engine speeds. I don't know why it would matter how it was mounted, unless it was oil-filled, which it may very well be. Another possibility is that it is a capacitor, which could accomplish a similar function. Just curious what the advantages/disadvantages to the two types of OF carbs, one with fuel inlet at the top and one with it at the bottom? I know the top fill was the older style.

Like the Doc said, You got it again son!

My problem is with a 1920 engine.

The two different sized crankshaft pulleys are listed for 1920, one at the end and one at the beginning of years they fit.

I used the larger size pulley that should make the fan turn slightly faster!!

There are two types I know of-
•1923-mid 24 with rib going outside of apron
•1924-25 and Ford Replacement Fender with rib under apron.

Pairs of either of these are fine.

Over the last few months I’ve read number of posts on different builds, restorations, and trips. With current roads and their maintained speed only a dream when the Model T was being built, how well do wheel and axle bearings hold up?

Also kingpins and spindles? Are speedsters stressing these parts when pushing to limits?

I have no first hand advice. However, when we have a Cooker Tour , it seems most of the folks in our chapter start with fully cooked food that is simply warmed in the manifold cooker. Helps to prevent the possibility of undercooked meat. So, I'd say pick your favorite chili recipe, cook it at home the day before, then warm it up in the cooker. Or,...

Even though Steve Jelf created some great directions on setting your Model T timing over at ,
I thought I would splurge on the Timing Indicator with LED kit that the vendors supply. It is supposed to make it easy to find the 15 degrees ATDC.

I bought this rim at a swap meet for my Model T shortly after getting into the hobby. I thought it was a T headlight rim until noticing differences with a T rim. This one has a 9-1/8 diameter rather than the 9 diameter on a T headlight rim. There are also 4 steel pads on the outside of the rim, equally spaced. Does anyone know what this is used on?

I passed it around at the T club meeting last night. No guesses as to what its use was. If it had been modified in the past, the rim showed no tool markings on the inside of the rim where it might have been welded and ground down. I’m just curious enough to see what’s under the paint.
