D/S to 4th main is a ball joint. D/S tube thrusts front to back with acceleration & braking. Adding a gasket adds extra slop & wont prevent grease leaks anyway. Common mistake. I decided to paint the box gloss black to provide some contrast with the body color. I may add some cream pinstriping later. Right now it is just set on the running board, I need to find a way to attach it without drilling more holes in the running board than it already has.

I think this small box fits the proportions of the short running board...

I think the higher clearance and narrower tires do help. Smooth tires with no tread would probably help, too.

Jim: The thrust plates had been turning on the inside of the differential and wore the pins and inside of the housing making new pins a few thousands too long both axles had a groove at the edge of the gear where the washer had worn the axle.
