Guys I'm looking at adding a 1930 Willys Knight 66B sedan to keep my T's company but cant get any response from the WOKR forum so was hoping somebody on here might have some experience with them. Its a 6 cylinder sleeve engine done 5,000 miles since new sleeves and pistons etc so is well run in.

1. What sort of mpg could I expect from a quiet 45...

Well after about 10 years of collecting parts and research I've officially started on building my delivery car body. I do this kind of stuff when I have time and $. Thought you all would like to see the progress so far.

Penetrol is made for the sealing, proofing, and priming of bare timber. Clear finished can be applied over it It can also be added to oil based paints to extend them, aid in adhesion and even out brush strokes. Look it up and see where it is available.

I have barely any endplay that is within specs but now there is binding as opposed to earlier when I had a little more endplay than I like. It has been reported on the forum that new bronze thrust washers are thinner than those made available previously, so they need less material removed to set the pinion mesh and less to take out side play within the housings. However, if you have a whole steel washer plus .015 shim, that's way more than I would expect. had previously been necessary...

I'm curious about what people tend to like to run their T's on. I know that today's gas is much better than it ever has been but is everyone just running regular 87 or is it worth going out of the way to find ethanol free fuel? I can do either since my carb has a drain on the bottom of it so no fuel will be sitting in the carb for extended periods...

Here in WI. Same as Jerry. 87 octane with up to 10% alcohol. We also have other stuff put in there because all the pollution from Chicago heads north and pollutes our clean air. I can leave my T's for 3-4 months and no problems starting them, even when the temp is in the 30's.

As my old buddy George use to say 'you gotta hold your tongue right'.

I'm trying to ID the town in Pennsylvania where this photo was taken.
The Ford dealership is the best landmark to solve this mystery, and I thought
this forum would be able to help.
The picture was taken in the late in 1930 or early 1931.

My family lived near Pittsburgh, and I think that might be a location.

I'm currently restoring a late 1911 touring car that has a November 1911 engine serial number, which matches the title. The original firewall still has what is likely the original patent plate shown in the picture below. This number is roughly 2000 higher than the engine serial number. Does the linkage go under or over the lower radiator hose? When I got mine it was routed under. Currently the rod connection at the timer is rubbing against the belt when fully advanced and has been for awhile before I bought it. I’m assuming that I need to bend the rod to lengthen it. I have the tool to check the timing.

T Exhaust manifolds are prone to warping and cracking. Problems can develop where the exhaust pipe connects to the manifold, too. The T manifolds are separate, and the intake is less likely to crack, warp, of suffer blown gaskets. It has far less heat stress and pressure on it than does the exhaust mannifold . Looking for one 30 x 3 flap. New or good used. Will trade 30 x 3 1/2 flap or puchase outright. I see vendors sell them new but it's hard to justify almost $40 for an item that used to cost $10.

The piece of old tube staying in place during fitting is not likely. A better solution is rim liner cut from the outside diameter of a 13 car tube, or from a 20 bicycle tube. These are a snap fit on the rim and will not migrate to places unwanted. Fit both beads of the tyre at the same time and the tyre levers will not get at your rube, negating...

This is a narrow style transmission cover (5th style)
For very late 1909 & 1910. The cover is in good shape no cracks in the perimeter mounting bosses, the pedals are crisp & pedal holes have been sleeved plus the Clutch pedal boss has been reinforced. Really a nice addition. $1650.00 plus the ride to your location. I bought this for a 1910...

My wife recently inherited a 1926 TT. I, as the make-believe mechanic, am finding this simple machine to be a bit more complex than I thought. The car starts and runs on the battery just fine. However, when switching to magneto it shuts off. I have not yet created the light bulb tester, so don't know about power from the mag. I do have video of it...

I need to replace the bushing at the front of the oil pan that the starting crank goes through. What is the best and easiest way to remove the old bushing? The bushing is probably frozen into the pan.

If anyone is awake on the forum, I’ve inevitably run into a couple questions installing the new interior.
On my seat base, do I have the carpet correct or is it upside down? And on the shoulder panels, what all hardware is used to install them?
My car had no proper interior in it prior so I am flying rather blind.

I have a friend who just received his new Hartford tubes with rubber valve stems. He needs to know if they will fit through the wood felloe of his wheels? I know the ones made in this country ten or more years ago would not. That's really a shame too, because when Firestone and Monkey Ward were making tubes, they would fit.

My friend says the Hartford tubes have the same incorrect rubber valve stems the last USA tubes had. The tubes made back in the sixties had a 1/2 rubber valve stem made by Schrader, and will fit snugly into a wood felloe. The flange of that tube says Schrader 35. It would be nice to know if Schrader still makes that 1/2 rubber valve stem?

The hood on my '27 T tends to ride forward until it's too close to the radiator shell. I tried putting a short piece of hood lacing in the front hinge rod clip on the radiator shell. That helped a little, but after a few tens of miles of driving, the hood would creep forward on the hinge rod and again be too close to the shell. I got tired of...

That would be a better solution, and would avoid the chance the cotter pin ends could foul the sheet metal. A piece of copper tubing or a brass pipe nipple might serve as a bushing, if either is available in a suitable size. Some parts stores here have assortments of small brass bushings. I'll look for one in the right size, or close to it.

Have been to the 'Pantheon' in Basel / Switzerland yesterday.
In a special exhibition between others there were a 1904 De Dion Bouton and a 1906 Ford Model N standing side by side.
Interesting to me to recognize the differences between old and new world cars in that case.

Yes take apart the sediment bulb. As above get a new lead gasket for it. Sometimes you can take them apart and find that some body had a slow gas issue and punched a small screwdriver through the filter screen to open it up. Hope you won’t find that.
Also might be a good idea to take the tank off again and shake it good with pea gravel to loosen...

In the Canadian province of British Columbia in 1922 they switched from driving on the left to driving on the right.
Curiously While I have seen/found RHD hogsheads in both aluminum and cast iron, I have not seen one with a starter.
Perhaps ford switched to selling LHD cars there in 1919 anyway!

So, after a few years in storage, I've been working on getting my 1919 Speedster running.

A few items to bear in mind:
- Rajo overhead Model 30
- Hand crank only
- Texas T distributor with new Champion A-25 plugs
- Carter fuel pump with Holley regulator set at 1.5 lbs pressure; flow test was good

Aren't the Bloxley metal stems the same size as the original Schraders?
I've only seen a picture, but I expect they're the same size as all the other metal stems currently sold. That's the Schrader 724/725 width. Original Model T stems are the narrower 777/888 size. I use the wide ones because they fit the dust covers I happen to have.

Finally finished most of the running gear and directed my focus to my roadster body - only to discover a former owner had pop-riveted patch panels along the entire length of both side of the body (firewall to back of bucket) to cover up rusted out panels and (unfortunately) a significant amount of the subframe is also rusted out or paper thin…...

Wayne is having trouble finding anyone that will cut & install early ford windshields for his 12 & 14 T's. Everyone he has been sent to is either out of business or no longer provides the service for flat glass. Does anyone know of someone in the Austin Texas area that will do these.

I am ready to start the body work on my 1916 Touring, there is a lot of surface rust on the inside and out. I would like to remove this support for the back seat so I can get at the rust better. Does it come out? Know of any videos?

Ospho and scotch-brite pads after the wood is out. Several go-rounds and every pit will be clean down to the parent metal. Used according to the label and the metal will remain rust-free for months in humid Florida, or years in dry environment like Wyoming. I've done it in both places and now, years later are still very pleased with how it holds...

Since joining mtfca, I have seen many questions regarding wood around the interior windows of the 1926-‘27 coupe. In all that time I never responded to the question because, in the 52 years since I last saw under the upholstery, I forgot whether I had wood or not even though I do not recall ever installing wood in the interior of my 1926 coupe....

Our October 1926 coupe has wood around the windows.
I have noticed for a long time from many interior photos of gutted coupes that early cars had steel.
If you do not have the frame serial number then the best way to date a coupe body is the wood battery cover.
Typically, with photos, there is no serial number.

I have just replaced one of the rear axle seals on my 1916 Tourer, and have refitted the wheel. However, despite having it on and off a few times and rechecking the fitment of the keyway, there is about an 1/8 difference as opposed to the other side, and I can see the edge of the brake shoes on the side I have removed.

I too had this issue on my Model T (non Ruckstell axle and Floating Hubs) after a full overhaul using a replacement RHS housing.

Although Being very confident that everything was 100% internally and housings weren’t bent I did as mentioned above to
try without the Key and then swap wheel / brake drum left to right. The issue went with the wheel....

At the time I put my 21 together Snyder’s had the exact carriage style seat trim bolt kits. The ones that were on the remains of the 21 body were pretty much rusted through. The repos were very nice. Hope this helps.

Currently disassembling the Bosch DU4 magneto and came up with some questions.

The instructions all over the internet don’t include this info it seems; but when reassembling, how do you align the gears? I notice there’s an A and C which I assume is clockwise and anti clockwise, and there’s an A and C on the interrupter housing. I’m guessing when...

Got a call from Snyders this morning. They told me the carb I had sent them as a core for an NH, while looks like an NH, was actually a Wizard Improved Carburetor. Sent me 2 pages to my phone of documentation for me to look at which I’ll include here.

He said that the wizard was a straight through bore design and even had a small heating element...

It's a flapper-style carb...it should start like a Kingston L-4 with no choke unless very cold, and then pretty much run like an NH.

Folks call them straight-through because there is no dip in the casting, but that straight-through bore is covered over by a flapper which acts like a variable venturi. Some folks love them, some are pretty much meh...

Today was the first time putting the top up on the 26 Touring.
I was able to get the top up but it doesn’t look right to me.
The side brackets are hanging down below the bottom edge of the fabric. Plus the edges of the fabric seem to be loose?
I’m hopping the attached pictures will explain better .

The top in the OP looks exactly like my '27. If the side bars were to move up, the brackets where the front of the top fit the windshield posts would bind and the back of the pivoting side bars would have to move downward. I think that the position of the bars is correct. I am not going to attempt to change the position on my 27.

That is also a kampkook yes but this previous one was an 1896 patented kamp kook kit which was a large tin box with a cook grill around it and contained a full cook set inside.

Stoves are easier to find and I have a few but thank you very much for looking our for one for me.
