Re: How Long Have You Owned Your Old Iron?

I still have two TT hubcaps that I bought for my first TT from an add in Hemmings in 1964 as NOS. When I got them, they were very pitted, I was very disapointed. I have kept them since then and had them replated in the mid '90's. That's about as close as I can come other than a few pictures in '64. ...

Dallas, I'm leaning toward a problem with the chamfers, as Wayne suggested, that's what I was trying to think of when I suggested measuring diagonally. Does the transmission pull out hard after it stops going in? If so, something is tapered a bit where it shouldn't be. Keep us posted. Dave

Re: CarFax article about a 1913 Model T

Harold, I couldn't figure out the "crescent shaped panel" either for a minute, but after looking at it for awhile, I figured out it is just the pavement showing under the car. Look to the left and front of the axle on the ground, there is the same pattern. As for the axle, it does look to have a ben...

OT Craig Correll

Craig, I tried to send you a PM but I think you need to activate it on your end. The "Add Recipient" box doesn't recognize you as a recipient. Dave

Re: Radial Tires

Kerry, why would radials need zero camber? I would think any tire/axle design would need camber to counter act the inner and outer diameter of the turning radius. What difference would radial tires make? Just curious. Dave

Re: OT Barrett Jackson Live

Anybody else notice how many of those high dollar cars have at least one brake light out if not both of them? I've been watching Barrett-Jackson for years and there are always a few that way, it never fails. Cracks me up.   Dave

Steve, look at the size of the bell on that horn. If it is a Klaxon type horn, I bet it could be heard just fine! :o Dave

Re: I have this fan...................

By the way, stay away from those spiral (un)easy outs. :) All they are good for is removing bolts that have been broken off from side pressure, not ones that have twisted off. All they do is lock the bolt in tighter as you try to remove it, or twist off making it pretty much impossible to drill it o...

Re: I have this fan...................

I have had much better luck heating both the bolt/screw and the surrounding area and let it cool slowly. The heat breaks down the rust/corrosion into a powder. The trick is DON"T just try to unscrew it all at once, work the bolt/screw back and forth, maybe by tapping the tool a bit with a small hamm...
